JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Coal and Coke Heritage Center, located at the Pennsylvania State University Fayette, Eberly Campus, is accepting applications for an on-site Part-Time Collections Services Assistant. Under the general supervision of the Coal and Coke Heritage Center Archivist, this individual will support the CCHC by processing archival collections, housing various materials, and assisting patrons and researchers.
The schedule is 25 hours a week during the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. The successful candidate for this role will work with the supervisor to create an appropriate working schedule. This position is on-site at the Fayette, Eberly campus located in Lemont Furnace, Pennsylvania. A cover letter, resume, and references must accompany the completed online job application. - Staffing the service desk and administrative support tasks
- Retrieve and reshelve archival collections
- Assist with the description of collection materials comprised of multiple formats
- Provide assistance in arranging and housing collection materials
- Follow archival standards and Digital Object Guidelines
- Assist with Oral History transcriptions and revisions
- Create various temporary exhibits both within the CCHC and in the main Library
- Proficiency in Windows environment, including office 365 software such as Excel and Word
- Ability to handle rare and fragile materials
- Exceptional organizational ability
- Self-motivation and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to sit at a workstation or computer for extended periods of time
- Experience processing archival or manuscript collections
- Previous experience in a library, archives, or museum working with special collections or museum materials
- Familiarity with ArchivesSpace and Trint, or other archival management applications.
