Position Summary

Commercial Electric Project Managers oversee the planning, implementation, and completion of commercial electrical projects. The ideal candidate will have a background in commercial electric, as well as leadership experience in project management.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for commercial electrical projects, including timelines, budgets, and resource requirements.
  • Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure that the project remains on budget.
  • Create and maintain a project schedule to ensure that the project is completed on time.
  • Manage the resources needed for the project, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
  • Ensure that the project is in compliance with all relevant electrical codes and regulations.
  • Maintain regular communication with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and vendors, to keep them informed about the project's progress.
  • Identify and resolve any issues that arise during the project, including technical, logistical, or personnel issues.
  • Provide regular project status updates to senior management.
  • Ensure that all project documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Oversee the oversight of the estimating process; including reviewing contract document issues and requirements, attending pre-bid meetings, travel to job locations to confirm project site conditions and evaluating contract specifications and scope definition on bid opportunities.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret detailed prints and specifications for conceptual, lump sum or unit pricing and to negotiate pricing as needed.
  • Ability to perform take-offs, compare unit pricing and solicit subcontractor pricing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft computer packages. Experience with computerized bidding software Esticom, HCSS HeavyBid or similar bidding system.
  • Must be able to handle multiple bids per week and meet strict deadlines.
  • Possess strong problem solving/analytical skills, with attention to detail to perform duties within quality control standards.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects and priorities.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, bi-lingual preferred (Spanish/English).
  • Excellent leadership and time management skills to allocate resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Thorough and attentive to details, able to prioritize and multitask, pro-active and deadline oriented.
  • Possess critical thinking and analytic skills to plan projects, assign necessary resources, optimize financial results, and minimize safety issues.
  • Ability to effectively interact with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels of the company.
  • Strong computer skills, Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and MS Project.
  • Must be motivated, driven and dedicated to the Core Values of the company.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred, not required.
    • Minimum 3 years' experience in electrical project management.
    • Knowledge of Dexter & Chaney Spectrum Construction Software and HCSS Construction Software a plus.
    • Strong understanding of electrical & telecommunications estimating.
    • General understanding of profit/loss terms such as cost, margin and fee is required.


    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: Up to $120,000 per year
