We currently have an exciting vacancy within the Older People’s Residential and Nursing Commissioning Team supporting our commissioned providers to enable us to continue to build on our success and bring new experience, knowledge and ideas into the team.

You will be organised and efficient, with excellent communication skills, the ability to develop positive, professional relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders and you will have good attention to detail. An understanding of commissioning is desirable and experience of working in an adult social care setting, using systems such as Liquid Logic and ContrOCC would also be helpful for this role.

About the Role

The Commissioning Support Officer role is a varied and key role in the All Age Commissioning Team of the Integrated Commissioning Directorate within the local authority. Supporting the role of the Commissioning Officer and Specialist Commissioner.

The successful candidate will provide support across the full commissioning cycle in relation to the older people’s residential and nursing provision. You will manage a portfolio of Trafford Care Homes in respect of Quality Assurance, utilising internal methods to benchmark quality and good practice and evidence for improvement work.

You will be required to have experience of Commissioning and Social Care within the field of Residential and Nursing, Discharge to Assessment.

You will have the ability to develop strong, effective and mature working relationships with key stakeholders including provider organisations to help ensure the delivery of appropriate services.

You will keep up to date with the relevant regulations, policy and legislation relating to Care Standards. As a Commissioning Support Officer, you will work within a small team, supporting the Commissioning Officers to effectively manage contracts and oversee the performance and quality of provision within Trafford. This includes but is not exhaustive.
  • Completing quality assurance audits with providers and making recommendations regarding quality improvement.
  • Overseeing quality improvement methods to provide assurances to senior leads.
  • Supporting with financial reconciliation, billing and invoicing issues and negotiations.
  • Supporting and investigation whistleblowing concerns, complaints, and safeguarding issues
  • Liaising with health and social care colleagues to support discharge arrangement barriers.
  • Ensuring that all services, internal and commissioned, deliver efficient and effective interventions which are evidence based and able to demonstrate impact and outcomes;
  • Supporting the implementation of commissioning arrangements for services, working across all relevant council, health and partner agencies.
  • Tackle and resolve complex issues through strong leadership and effective partnership working across the council, Health and partner agencies.
  • Support the procurement of new contracts and developments.

Additional Information

The core working hours are usually between 8.30am and 4.30pm, from Monday to Friday, but there is sometimes a requirement to work evenings or weekends and there may be a requirement to work between Christmas and New Year

You will have flexibility in terms of hybrid working at home and in the office and will be required to attend the office for relevant team days.
