About the role
As Compliance Manager for EMEA you will be a key business partner to the regional insurance and compliance teams, being responsible for providing first line review and maintenance of the internal compliance monitoring plan and framework used by Cover Genius. You will support the insurance and compliance leads in maintaining the company’s compliance strategy and assist the insurance business to have adequate controls, procedures, and processes in place to ensure compliance with all laws, regulations and codes applicable to the sale of insurance, warranty, and related products.
What you will be doing:
- Conduct in depth evidence-based compliance monitoring reviews in accordance with the annual Compliance Monitoring Plan to identify rule breaches, control weaknesses and issue risk graded reports identifying remedial actions
- Develop the risk based annual Compliance Monitoring Plan
- Alongside other members of the Compliance team, answer technical queries and conduct Sanctions and due diligence screening
- Understand and be aware of regulatory changes and assist in providing implementation of required changes
- Provide support to other members of the broader Executive and Risk Management teams, as appropriate
What the ideal profile looks like;
- At least 5+ years experience in a compliance monitoring role within the insurance industry
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate findings clearly at a senior level
- Strong technical knowledge of UK financial services regulation inclusive of FCA handbook with a significant focus on the ICOBS sections of the handbook
- Knowledge and understanding of Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) and relevant compliance obligations
- Experience with identification, assessment, and management frameworks for risks insurance
- Understanding of compliance analytics and qualitative and quantitative risk measures
- Ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, concise manner both verbally and in writing, and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to independently take initiative on projects
- Ability to adapt quickly to a start-up pace environment and culture
