SUMMARY

The responsibility of this position is to assure the safe and timely delivery of concrete to the customer, the timely return to the plant, proper maintenance and care of the ready mix concrete truck, completion of all paperwork, assisting with plant work, and maintaining good public relations with customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Perform a daily pre-trip and post-trip safety inspection and report any maintenance that may be required.
• Drive truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skills in maneuvering vehicle in difficult situations.
• Drive truck under loading hopper to receive sand, gravel, cement and water and start mixer.
• Watch and follow hand signals.
• Move levers on truck to release concrete down truck chute directly into area to be poured with concrete.
• Must keep truck clean, inside and out.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with customers and supervisor on the job site. Be professional and courteous.
• Sometimes collect payments on delivery.
• Assist in housekeeping and maintenance of plant.
• May spray surfaces of truck with protective compound to prevent adhering of concrete.
• May assemble cement chute.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Attitudes, Skills, and Abilities

The ability to work an extended work schedule, be a team player, and pitch in where needed is critical. Must be able to operate hand and power tools. Good judgment and decision-making is important. Must work safely and observe company safety rules. Possess good mechanical skills; able to read and follow directions. Possess good math and technical ability. Positive attitude and good work ethic are required.

Experience/Education

Must have a Class A or Class B CDL and be insurable under company s auto policy. Previous experience in a related position is preferred.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

Must tolerate working outside in a variety of weather conditions including high heat and sun. Must be available to work extended overtime hours during busy season, including Saturdays. Physical demands include the ability to bend, stoop and climb. This position requires the ability to climb in and out of the truck many times a day and climb a ladder on the back of the truck. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds safely, may be asked to assist in lifting up to 100 pounds on occasion.
