$20.00/Hr. to start and $200.00/Mo. Vehicle Reimbursement

Construction inspections on jobs in the Greater San Diego / Riverside County / San Bernardino area

RTC, Inc. is an established, storm water/erosion control/environmental engineering firm providing services to general contractors, developers, property owners and governmental agencies throughout California and the Western US.

We presently have multiple positions open for trainee, independent 1099 Storm Water Inspectors to perform Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) Inspections at new construction sites in the San Diego area. Drive-time and field work time compensated. Flexible schedule. Opportunity to become full-time.

Responsibilities:

  • Storm Water site inspections (weekly) and reporting for a variety of construction sites
  • We will train, but construction background will be beneficial
  • Preparation of weekly reports and photos
  • Preparation of Rain Event Action Plans (REAP)
  • Onsite testing of turbidity and pH during rain events
  • Building and maintaining client relationships
  • Periodic onsite training to contractors, e.g. BMPs (best management practices)
  • This position requires the ability to safely navigate construction sites on foot which potentially have difficult terrain, as well as jobsite hazards such as active earth moving equipment, excavation activities and demolition
  • This position also requires site visits during inclement weather for visual monitoring and discharge testing (weather triggers are defined)
  • Schedule and route can vary, M-F, typical construction site hours

Experience/Requirements:

  • A reliable vehicle and clean driving record required
  • A reliable computer (PC) and printer and internet connection
  • Ability to learn how to use RTC's simple inspection reporting software
  • Communication skills, both verbal and written to ensure the effective conveyance of site inspection results, good and bad, as well as potential options/suggestions for site compliance
  • Must be reliable and committed to meet weekly route requirements, as well as rain event related inspection requirements
  • Construction or environmental field background preferred
  • Retirees and Veterans welcome

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (experience may be considered in-lieu of educational requirements)
  • QSP or QSD Training or Certificate a plus
  • Ability to use PDF and MS Office or Google Programs and E-Mail
