A Brief Overview
The Consumer Insights Manager will help teams across CHOP leverage findings from consumer research to inform the design of their strategic plans, new program offerings, and communications. The Manager will identify areas where consumer feedback could help fill key knowledge gaps that teams have, design and execute research projects to generate actionable consumer insights, and then help teams translate the findings of these studies into their planning activities. The Manager will be responsible for designing research studies, developing discussion guides and surveys, overseeing data collection, analyzing data, and presenting the results through compelling and clear reports.
This is a hybrid position.
What you will do
- Design consumer research projects that will result in actionable insights for stakeholder teams
- Work with teams across the organization to understand their key business issues and where knowledge gaps exist
- Translate the key needs of stakeholder teams into research plans that clearly outline project objectives, methodology, key analyses, and timeline
- Act as lead researcher in the gathering of insights for quantitative projects
- Develop questionnaires that will yield outstanding insights
- Oversee development of sampling plan, survey programming, and survey fielding
- Ensure data collected meets high quality standards (e.g. all speeders, straight liners removed)
- Analyze data using a variety of analytical tools (e.g., crosstabs, factor analysis, driver analysis, correlations, correspondence analysis, expectancy analysis, cluster analysis)
- Provide methodology expertise in quantitative research, helping keep our organization at the cutting edge of research innovation
- Vet and select vendors to work with when outside programming, fielding, and data processing support is needed on a project
- Oversee the execution of qualitative research projects
- Vet, select, and oversee vendors when recruitment, moderation, or transcription support is needed on a qualitative project
- Develop recruitment screeners
- Provide feedback on discussion guides
- Observe qualitative fieldwork across a broad range of methods (focus groups, ethnographies, interviews, online communities), ensuring that the insights collected will meet the stakeholder team’s key objectives and information needs
- Socialize results of research studies to drive business growth
- Effectively communicate the results of research studies to stakeholders through compelling and clear reports and presentations
- Help to synthesize findings from custom research studies with data from other sources (syndicated research, business financials) to develop a cohesive story
- Help lead workshops with stakeholders to encourage them to incorporate research findings into their business decisions
- Educate organization about successful consumer insights engagements
- Follow up regularly with stakeholder teams to track how consumer insights influenced their business decisions and helped drive program growth
- Share case studies (through lunch-n-learns, newsletters, etc.) to help ensure consumer insights is visible to the wider organization
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED Required
- Master's Degree or other advanced degree with a background in business, market research, statistics, or behavioral sciences Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- At least five (5) years in consumer insights, leading quantitative and qualitative research studies with client-facing responsibility Required
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to design research studies that will collect actionable insights to address key business issues
- In-depth knowledge of quantitative research methodologies.
- Experience designing surveys and developing sampling plans (sample size, composition, weighting, etc.)
- Ability to conduct a variety of statistical analyses (e.g. factor analysis, regression analysis, correlations, ANOVA, etc.)
- Ability to interpret results from advanced statistical modeling (e.g., cluster analysis, Bayesian Network Analysis, conjoint/discrete choice analysis)
- Familiarity and understanding of qualitative methodologies and analyses
- Experience managing qualitative research studies
- Ability to design research solutions that will collect actionable insights to address key business issues
- Strong analytical skills with ability to synthesize disparate sources of data
- Strong project management skills, with ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to synthesize complex trends into easy-to-understand communications
- Outstanding communication skills, including oral, written and presentation.
- Intellectual curiosity and creativity, strong idea generation skills, and willingness to advocate for new ideas
- Advanced user of Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word
- Proficient with statistical software such as SPSS, SAS, R, and Q Research Software
- Experience using data processing programs (e.g. Wincross) is a plus
