CONTROL SYSTEM ENGINEER II

ACC is currently looking for a Control System Engineer II. A Control System Engineer II creates custom process control and automation systems for our life sciences, food and beverage and consumer products customers. Working alongside your project team, you will develop systems architecture, design and specifications, and program, test, debug and startup the DCS, PLC, SCADA/HMI and MES systems that the team designs. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position reporting directly to the Senior Project Manager.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
· Understanding/expertise in the technical aspects of automation engineering
· Solve complex problems related to automation systems, design automation workflows
· Implement best practices
· Strong project management skills
· Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and customers to understand business drivers and define requirements
· Able to explain technical concepts to non-technical team members, as well as presenting project progress and updates to management
· Develop user and functional requirements and detailed design documents
· Perform test planning and develop of factory and site test documents meeting GAMP and customer requirements
Education, Certifications and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics)
· 2 to 5 years of experience as Controls/Automation engineer or industrial control system programmer
· First-hand experience with startup/commissioning/deployment of systems into production environments is required
· Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
· Exceptional communication skills for interface with customers, vendors, and other project team members
· Ability to define, schedule and juggle tasks across multiple projects
· Experience at a Systems Integrator firm a plus
PLC Programming Requirements
· Allen Bradley Logix Family of PLCs
· Experience with Siemens, GE, Opto 22 a plus
SCADA Design and Configuration Requirements
· Rockwell Factory Talk View SE
· Inductive Automation Ignition
· GE Proficy iFix
· Historian (OSI Pi, FT Historian or others)
Other Design and Programming
· SQL database design and development (MS SQL or MySQL)
· Python & Java
· .NET, C#
· Web portal, dashboard development and reporting
· Delta V
Working Environment
Duties are performed in an office environment and workshop, but will also require travel to customer sites/locations to perform analysis, installation, training maintenance, etc. Must be willing to travel approximately 30%; must be willing to work in a variety of manufacturing facilities. Must be able to routinely use standard office equipment which includes, but is not limited to, computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues.
Physical Demands
Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged hours consistent with the average workday; to operate a computer and other office equipment, including but not limited to computer, printer, etc. Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders; must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl; must be able to move, transport, position, place, install, remove and/or replace various types of equipment; must be able to lift 50-70 lbs. unassisted.
