The Elks Organization has hundreds of thousands of members and nearly 2,000 lodges nationwide. We are a nonprofit, charitable foundation that raises and awards millions of dollars each year that are put towards community needs such as scholarships, veteran services, drug awareness, and other community programs. The Marinette based lodge is currently looking for a cook to add to our friendly, hardworking staff! Hours will vary but typically average 30/week.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing meal ingredients, including washing, cleaning, peeling, cutting, and chopping a variety of foods such as vegetables, fruits, meats, soups, and salads.
  • Cooking and displaying food according to Company guidelines, ensuring display is appropriate for serving.
  • Reviewing production schedule to determine food requirements including variety and quantity of food for preparation and to assemble supplies and equipment needed for daily cooking activities.
  • Attending to day-to-day problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies; detecting and ensuring disposition of spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment, and/or other unusual conditions and reports to supervisor as needed.
  • Utilizing a variation of kitchen appliances such as grills, ovens, fryers, and mixers.
  • Properly cleaning and sanitizing all food preparation areas according to established standards of hygiene.
  • Washing and appropriately storing all cooking appliances, instruments, utensils, cutting boards, and dishes.
  • Sweeping and mopping kitchen floors as well as wiping down kitchen walls.
  • Assisting with the unloading of delivered food supplies.
  • Ensuring that food health and safety regulations are followed at all times.
  • Assisting with inventory and ordering of stock.
  • Catering special events as needed.

Applicants must:

  • Be willing and able to obtain a food manager certification within 60 days of hire
  • Have experience working in a restaurant or bar kitchen
  • Have sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
  • Be able to stand for extended periods.
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enjoy working in a team environment.
  • Have excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Be able to work evenings and weekends
