Located in Belleville, Clara Maass Medical Center is a facility of RWJBarnabas Health and provides a complete continuum of care to residents of northern New Jersey. With over 700 physicians and 2,100 employees, we offer advanced treatment for a wide variety of medical conditions. Our facility includes centers for advanced wound care, sleep disorders, bariatrics, orthopedics cardiac services, cancer care, emergency services, and more. In 2017, the Medical Center completed a state-of-the-art campus expansion featuring a new four-story 87,000 square foot building with a private, 32-bed Intensive Care Unit, new Main Entrance and Lobby, Retail Pharmacy, Patient Registration Area, and a recently expanded Emergency Department.

We are currently looking for a Cook, Helper to assist the Chef in the preparation and cooking of all foods.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists on a daily basis in cutting, washing and preparing of meats and vegetables for cooking.
  • Prepares on a daily basis all cold foods in bulk, such as tuna fish, chicken salad, egg salad for cafeteria and patients.
  • Sets-up and cleans on a daily basis all produce, vegetables and fresh fruit for the salad bar in the Cafeteria and Physician's Dining Room.
  • Prepares on a daily basis all jellos, puddings and custards for patient and cafeteria use.
  • Cooks off on a daily basis all roasted meats for patient and cafeteria use.
  • Ensures delivery of excellent customer service resulting in positive and improving patient satisfaction scores for department and Medical Center.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • On-the-job training in food preparation and sanitation techniques.
  • The ability to multi-task and work quickly and efficiently.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
  • Manual dexterity and a good sense of taste.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Strong ability to make good decisions regarding prioritizing work, for example ensure there is a proper supply of food to avoid shortages before going on break.
  • Approachable and cooperative.
