Do you love to work with kids, inspire their future and make a difference in our community? CoreSRQ is hiring a CoreKids Representative to assist with multiple shifts with our After School Care program and Child Watch Drop - In Nursery.

Aftercare Group Leader - 3pm to 6pm (ages 5&6 / Ages 7-10yrs)

This position is responsible for providing a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment for After School Care participants to learn and grow outside of the school day. All in accordance with the CoreSRQ, Inc. Mission and policies of the association.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the physical safety of the participants at all times, including understanding and implementing emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Leads and executes high quality, age-appropriate activities for enrolled participants. Promoting cooperation, participation and inspire to try new things. Activities such as, crafts, sports, teambuilding games and assisting with homework.
  • Develops and fosters interpersonal relationships with participants and their families; proactively creates a positive, welcoming environment of cooperation, friendliness, and helpfulness towards staff and fellow participants. Upholding and modeling values such as responsibility, honesty, caring and respect.
  • Establishes structure and routines for participants by setting boundaries and behavior guidelines while following the schedule for the week/day. Promotes positive conflict resolution and communication.
  • Documents attendance and incidents for each child.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of the After School Care Classroom and inventory of program supplies and games.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position.

Child-Watch Drop-In Nursery - 4pm to 7:30pm (ages 6 weeks to 9 years)

This position is responsible for providing safe and enjoyable childcare for members and their children in accordance with the CoreSRQ, Inc. Mission and policies of the association.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for maintaining visual and auditory supervision of participants in child watch room at all times.
  • Responsible for the safety and well-being of each child under their supervision and maintain a creative and playful atmosphere for all participants.
  • Communicate respectfully and professionally work as a team with other child watch staff to make sure all participants are safe, looked after and participating in activities.
  • Engage with participants in new activities and promote positive experiences while in our care.
  • Plan and supervise the activities of children, perform general housekeeping tasks and maintain a clean and safe area throughout their shift and before leaving.
  • incorporate age development benchmarks when interacting with different children in child-watch area. Promote positive life skills and conflict resolution strategies.
  • Know and follow CoreSRQ, Inc. policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures. Attend staff meetings and training programs, as required.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Must be 17 years of age or older.
  • Prior experience working with children in a group setting.
  • Successfully complete DCF Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screening.
  • Able to adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy.
  • Have a positive and willing attitude to promote an inspiring atmosphere for participants, members and staff.
  • Ability to plan and initiate age-appropriate games and activities.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to adjust from sitting to standing with ease.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 30 lbs.

Certifications and Trainings in accordance with the association requirements (Trainings provided)

  • CPR, and AED certifications required within 90 days of being hired (training provided)
  • Blood Borne Pathogens training.
  • Child Abuse and Neglect training
  • Policy, and Procedure training

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $12.00 per hour
