Essential Job Functions – the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:

Identify leaders of a Drug Trafficking Organizations (DTOs).

Conducted in-depth toll analysis of telephone toll data through the use of multiple databases. The resulting analysis is reported in Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) reports of investigation and briefed to case agents.
- Conduct in-depth interviews, source debriefings and proffers to acquire current and historical information on suspected and known DTOs for ongoing and anticipated investigations.
- Conduct communication exploitation by manipulating investigative information contained in JSI T2S2/Voicebox, Pen-Link and DARTS. Further exploit information through FinCEN Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR’s) and Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), commercial databases such as LexisNexis, CLEAR, ENTERSECT, Assessor’s website, Secretary of State Business Search, Colorado Department of Labor, National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Colorado Crime Information Center (CCIC), National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System(NLETS), Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Information System (NADDIS), Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCEDTF) Fusion Center, Special Operations Division (SOD), El Paso Intelligence Center (EPIC), HIDTA offices, National Money Counter Initiative, Case Link and Subpoena Generator and coordination with other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
- Thoroughly analyze research material to identify critical intelligence leads in the investigation and links to other investigations.
- Provide immediate and timely tactical intelligence in support of drug investigations by identifying key DTO targets, communication devices, trafficking routes, conveyances, assets and methods of operation for the movement of drugs and currency.
- Provide guidance and direction to case agents through the detailed analysis of subpoenaed telephone records, pen register data, intercepted phone conversations, seized documents and communication devices, leads from DEA and other law enforcement offices and related research of subjects, addresses, vehicles, assets, and financial information.
- Provide strategic intelligence through complex descriptive and predictive research and analysis that informs managers and policy makers at the federal, state and local levels of drug trafficking trends, issues and intelligence gaps.
- Conduct liaison activities with other federal, state and local agencies such as FBI, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF), HIDTA and police and sheriff departments in Colorado Springs and Pueblo, Colorado, and other jurisdictions. Coordinate with other federal, state and local domestic and international offices for the purpose of enhancing intelligence sharing and identifying investigative overlaps.
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
- The ability to analyze data and report findings and conclusions
- The ability to write reports, prepare letters, expositions and summaries
- The ability to forecast based on data
- The ability to prepare statistical charts, graphs, and exhibits using data
- Knowledge of intermediate math and statistical analysis
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field appropriate to assigned area of responsibility which may include finance, business administration, public administration, human resources, criminal justice, procurement, occupational health, or other research intensive field
- Three years of full-time professional analytical experience specific to the area of assignment
- Be able to obtain NCIC/CCIC credentials.
One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
- Ability to work independently with different demands competing for the analyst’s time
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Experience with Penlink, Analyst Notebook, CellEx, SoMed, OSINT
- Experience working with law enforcement/public safety

The City of Colorado Springs offers additional compensation depending on the position, area of assignment, and specific job assignments, including shift differential, pay differential, acting or lead, special assignment, hazard pay, longevity, cell phone allowance, uniform allowance, relocation, awards, standby, call out, compensatory time off, tuition, overtime, extra duty, incentive, holiday premium, proficiency, and vacation sell back.
