Job description

Criminal Justice Alternatives is seeking a part time Criminal Justice Assessment Specialist. This position is full time, working weekdays from 6am-2pm. This position will conduct criminal background checks, run assessments and conduct interviews with newly arrested and detained defendants in the Wake County Jail. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working in a secure facility and interacting with criminal defendants.

Candidate will:

• Utilize multiple databases to update and maintain defendant files
• Review and prepare the public safety assessment packet for daily court appearances
• Interview defendants, and verify defendant information
• Initiate release of eligible defendant
• Answer inquiries from stakeholder agencies and the public about defendanants

Ideal Qualifications

• Knowledge of NC's criminal court records databases
• Previous detention or criminal justice experience
• Familiarity with criminal justice terminology
• Ability to collaborate and convey information effectively
• Attention to detail
• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field.

Candidates must pass a comprehensive criminal backgroud check in order to work for our agency.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $38,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
