Munson Medical Center is seeking talented new graduate nurses for the Critical Care Residency Program July 2023 cohort. This exciting and intensive residency will give you an opportunity to explore working in the 43-bed Emergency Department, 20-bed ICU and two 30-bed cardiac critical care units within the Webber Heart Center.
Our program includes a combination of clinical and didactic training, a portion of which is approved for contact hours. New residents will participate in computer-based training, skills labs and simulations, EKG training, case studies, and numerous clinical and critical-thinking experiences.
Selected residents may start as a new graduate nurse prior to taking your NCLEX examination or choose to take their NCLEX prior to the residency start and begin the program as an RN.
DETAILS
First Round Interview: If selected for the first-round interview, a member of the recruitment team will reach out to you for a preliminary phone interview to learn more about your interest in the position
Second Round Interview: Will be a virtual, panel interview with unit managers and residency team
- Due to COVID-19 restrictions, interviews may be conducted via Zoom. More details will be shared upon application.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- If starting as an RN, will need to share proof of MI RN license
- For those hired into an RN position after January 1, 2015, it is required to obtain a BSN within 5 years of start date
- Medication delivery and counting of narcotics or witnessing waste of narcotics may not be done until the RN licensure is obtained (if practicing as a GN)
- Experience in the clinical area in which application has been made is desirable.
- Maintains Basic Life Support certification.
ORGANIZATION
Works under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse if practicing as Graduate Nurse. Accountable to the unit manager or designee of the assigned patient care unit; ultimately accountable for the practice of nursing to the Vice President, Patient Care Services. Works collaboratively and effectively with all members of the patient care team.
SPECIFIC DUTIES

3. Uses effective customer service/interpersonal skills at all times.
4. Maintains professional working relationship with patients, families, nursing staff, providers and the entire health care team.
5. Works within the guidelines of nursing and hospital standards of practice, policies and procedures.
6. Performs direct patient care activities under the direction, supervision, and delegation of a Registered Nurse.
7. Demonstrates knowledge and clinical competence for applicable patient populations.
8. Does NOT administer medications until the RN license is obtained.
9. Does not complete all steps of the nursing process. Collaborates with the Registered Nurse for the assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing and patient care.
10. Communicates patient care findings and concerns to the supervising Registered Nurse.
11. Assists with the medication storage, stocking, transportation, and checking of expiration dates as delegated.
