Title: CT Technologist
Location: Cookeville, TN
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for working directly with patients and assisting radiologists and/or staff physicians while administering ionizing radiation in the course of computerized tomography (CT) examinations in concordance with physician’s orders. This professionally trained person will be responsible for the operation of CT scanners, flow rate injectors, an EKG monitoring system, and a picture archiving system. This position is responsible for the use of radiographic supplies including iodinated contrast while providing patient care and patient safety as established by department standards. This position is responsible for performing a variety of basic secretarial, clerical and housekeeping functions such as customer service, examination and work area cleaning, telephone communications, computer system data entry, information retrieval, (HIS, RIS, PACS), and infection control. This position, in addition to superb technical skills, will also require the ability to follow the CRMC service commitments to customers and fellow staff. Other duties as assigned.

· Certification, CT Required, And
· BLS Healthcare Provider Required
Additional Certification Details
Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) as a CT Technologist
preferred. If not currently registered in CT, must obtain CT certification within one year of completing CT training.
Experience
· Two years of experience with all types of CT exams on multi-slice scanners is preferred.
· Operates Computerized Tomography scanners, flow regulated injectors, UPS systems, patient monitors, hospital computer systems and other associated medical imaging equipment. Have the ability to deal with patients, families and other hospital employees in a professional and caring manner in times of great stress and crises. Have the ability to handle constant pressure, stress and numerous interruptions associated with the busy schedule in the CT area.

Education
· Remains current on latest techniques and methods relative to CT exams.
· Demonstrates a willingness to learn new procedures and willingly accepts new responsibility.
· Performs other related duties as may be assigned or requested within the scope of education, skills and/or experience
· Gives a copy of all continuing education, current ARRT and BLS cards to Chief CT Technologist.
Knowledge of Job
Continually keeps up to date with changes in protocols, procedures and scanning techniques.
Demonstrates knowledge of day-to-day operations and organization of the CT area.
Has knowledge of normal anatomy and basic pathology. Knows how and when to deviate protocols to best demonstrate unusual findings.
Consistently demonstrates proper knowledge to safely adjust the complex physics of the CT scanners including; pitch, rotation time, table feed, filters/kernels and dose modulation.
Understands and uses injector procedures and protocols in the safest manner.
Always labels and accesses contrast according to proper technique.
Is not wasteful and shares cost savings ideas.
Patient care
· Always greets the patient by introducing himself and calls the patient by name.
· Verifies the appropriate patient by asking the patient their name, date of birth, and checking their armband.
· Completes patient procedure form and explains post procedure care to the patient.
· Explains the procedure to the patient and allows the patient time to ask questions.
· Always carefully observes patients during procedures listening for complaints and watching for unusual occurrences.
· Documents any problems that occur during the examination.
· Always notifies the Radiologist when patients are waiting for results.
· Communicates any problems with the procedures with the ordering physician and/or office staff.
· Ensures patients are reconnected to IV fluids, oxygen, and monitors prior to leaving the department, when applicable.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $69,140.00 per year
