Background & Purpose of the Job:
Customer Development (CD) is what we call our Sales organization at Unilever. CD works closely with customers to pioneer new products, build categories, and deploy best-in-class retail and shopper capabilities.
This Customer Business Manager (CBM) role is responsible for developing sustained business relationships and driving mutually profitable sales volume for Unilever and with Ahold (Stop & Shop, Giant Company, Giant Food) for Personal Care. The CBM will be responsible for creating plans to deliver POS & Turnover goals, category market share goals, and Sales Contribution Margin goals for the respective business managed. Specifically, the CBM will own the customer joint business planning process, the internal planning processes, promotions planning & execution, and support all other business initiatives.
The CBM is also an integral part of the Cross-Functional team (Shopper Marketing, Category Management, Digital & Ecommerce, Customer Marketing, Retail Coverage, Customer Finance, Business Development and Supply Chain) tasked with leading brilliant execution and improving in-store and online presence for Ahold.
Who You Are & What You’ll Do:
  • You’re a born leader: Manage multiple priorities across your cross functional partners and interface with Ahold. Align internal and customer priorities for win-win joint value creation; Manage new item sell-in, influence planograms, and retail initiatives.
  • You’re a strategy guru: Customize marketing and merchandising programs with Ahold; Coordinate and manage cross-functional (Cat Man, Supply Chain, Shopper Marketing) initiatives; Coordinate Joint Business Plans with Ahold.
  • You love to win, and have fun doing it: Drive strategic relationships and accelerated growth, while operating within approved Trade Marketing parameters and driving trade investment efficiency.
  • You’re a dot connector and strong collaborator: Routinely interface with many internal and external partners, influencing priorities and agenda; Balance individual customer needs with multiple customer stakeholders.
What You Will Need To Succeed:
  • Undergraduate degree is required, MBA preferred with experience as a Customer Business Manager required, or similar Account Management or Customer Management experience.
  • Trade Marketing experience, CCD or Category Management experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of omni-channel capabilities and eCommerce capabilities and market share and Customer POS Data is strongly desired
  • Must have proven success building customer relationships and effectively communicating with a variety of leaders.
  • Must have an ability to multi-task across many businesses and strategically prioritize to drive results.
  • Must be able to provide clear leadership to a broad cross-functional business team to execute against business strategies. Strong track record of collaborating and influencing a wide variety of stakeholders including internal and external.
  • Must show demonstrated ability to leverage future trends and market insights and think creatively in building out business plans, influencing the customer.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively as part of a Customer Team and be able to manage multiple stakeholders’ deliverables.

Pay: The pay range for this position is $110,700 to $166,000. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.
Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.
Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
