Lead insights development and delivery to sales partners, retailer partners and local purveyors. Translate insights to strategies and tactics to deliver against Boar’s Head Brand budget and drive category market share growth.
Job Description:
Essential Functions
- Activate company insights within assigned division and retailers to demonstrate thought leadership including macro, consumer, category and marketplace insights
- Collaborate/consult actively with sales teams to develop programs that grow the Boar’s Head brand, including efficient promotions and distribution opportunities within both new and existing retailer accounts and stores
- Synthesize third party data resources to broaden perspective, proactively identify opportunities, business trends and growth drivers resulting in Market Share growth for Boar’s Head and our retail partners. Third party resources include IRI syndicated data, IRI Home Scan Panel, Nielsen TDLinx, Spectra, Go Spot Check and Numerator Promotions ad collection
- Capable of building a narrative around a set of data and its accompanying visualizations to help convey the meaning of that data in a powerful and compelling fashion
- Effective cross functional communication (Internal BI team, BDM’s, BSM’s, LP’s, Marketing and Executives, etc…)
- Articulate presenter of insights, including crafting a story to present actionable insights to the intended audience
- Extract shipment data and delivery data from internal systems and organize for audience according to their accessibility privileges
- Design and deliver efficient standardize reports to ensure scalability, accuracy and timeliness
- Stay current on and execute against consumer, marketplace, retailer and category trends
- Champion category management with internal team, retail partners and local purveyors by conducting objective promotion, distribution and pricing analyses to recommend and influence category strategies and tactics
- Develop into a domain expert in one or more of Boar’s Head tools and share expertise via trainings
- Coach/Mentor/Develop assigned Analyst. Manage data paralysis, need’s analysis and workloads. Teach category management principles and fundamental analytic approaches when working with large sets of data. Support their career path growth and recognize their accomplishments.
- Perform all and any other tasks assigned by Boar’s Head management personnel
Education and Experience
- Experience and education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in the Consumer Products Goods industry in an analytical/category management role required.
- Business Insights, Data Analytics or Category Management certification is strongly preferred.
Industry-Specific knowledge, skills & abilities needed
- Experience pulling and analyzing syndicated sales POS data (IRI and/or Nielsen) is required
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required
- Experience with Business Intelligence, or another advanced analytics tool is strongly preferred
- Experience with shopper data (loyalty card or panel) is strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of grocery retail DSD operations preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook

- Mentor/Coach – assist in the growth and development of junior level analysts and share best practices with peers
