POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Full Time Customer Service

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

POSITION REPORTS TO: CEO (in absence of CEO then CFO) – follows instruction of Head Teller

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: N/A

POSITION PURPOSE

Perform transactional duties to serve members by receiving or paying out funds with a high degree of accuracy. Maintain accurate transactional records, providing basic cash receipt and payment services in accordance with credit union policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

1. Greet and welcome members to the credit union in a courteous, professional and timely manner, providing prompt, accurate, and efficient member transactions.

2. Receive share drafts/checks and cash for deposit to accounts, verify amounts, examine share drafts/checks for proper endorsement, and enter deposits into computer records.

3. Cash share drafts/checks and process withdrawals; pay out money after verification of signatures and member balances.

4. Answer phone calls.

5. Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products and services that are handled or promoted by tellers. Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all related policies and procedures, rules and regulations for the teller area, including robbery procedures.

6. Promote, explain, and cross-sell other credit union services.

7. Receive and apply member loan payments. Enter payments into computer including RDC.

Generate member receipts.

8. Place hold on accounts for uncollected funds.

9. Balance cash drawer at the end of the shift and compare totaled amounts to computer-generated proof sheet. Research and resolve discrepancies. Report any discrepancies to the Head Teller as necessary.

10. Ensure that the teller station is properly stocked with forms, supplies, brochures, etc. under the direction of the Head Teller.

11. Perform filing duties as needed.

12. Report malfunctions of teller terminals and other equipment used at the teller station.

13. Check night depository/daily mail and record proper information according to credit union procedures.

14. Assist with applications for Back to School/Christmas/New Hire loans as needed

15. Perform other duties, projects or tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: A high school education or GED.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Thorough knowledge of principles and processes for providing member and personal
services. This includes member needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of member satisfaction.
Knowledge of Teller policies and procedures.
Understanding Credit Union operations and philosophy.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Abilities generally acquired on the job within 12 months. Prior customer service and/or
cash handling experience preferred.

SKILLS/ABILITIES: Excellent oral communication and public relations skills. Bilingual helpful but not required.
Professional appearance, dress, and attitude.
Working knowledge of related computer systems and applications.
Solid math skills.
Demonstrates carefulness about detail and is thorough in completing work tasks.
Maintains confidentiality related to Credit Union operations and work-related information.

General – General office equipment such as calculators, computers, photocopiers, and scanners. Including postage machine, coin counting, and cash counting machines.

Operating Systems Software – Computer operating systems; e.g. Microsoft Windows
Computer Software – MS Office; Word, Excel, etc.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.
Finger Dexterity: To individually, or as a group, flex and extend fingers for fine and precise manipulation of small items, or to activate a keyboard mouse. Handling or touching with the fingers, e.g., turning switches on/off, using a telephone push button or 10-key calculator.
Physical Strength: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
Pulling: Using upper body to exert force in order to draw, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.
Pushing: Using upper body to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
Repetitive Motion: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Talking: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
