Job Summary

This individual supports Vast Bank's IT team in engaging with the organization to help drive digital transformation and deliver data visualization for aid in making real time business decisions.

Essential Functions

  • Leverage Power BI to modernize existing reporting and data analytics
  • Provide guidance and best practices on the configuration and deployment of Power BI reports and dashboards
  • Leverage Tableau to modernize existing reporting and data analytics.
  • Document and socialize models behind reports to promote transparency of analysis
  • Building analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency and customer acquisition.

Knowledge & Skills

Experience

  • Experience with Power BI
  • Ability to problem solve and break down complex problems into solvable pieces.
  • Strong experience in Excel (pivots, VLOOKUP’s, formulas, and charts) to dissect preexisting stakeholder workflows.
  • Experienced in data management, data analysis, and data extraction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to provide information to all levels of the organization, customers, and third parties.
  • Exemplary critical thinking and understanding of statistical concepts such as probability distributions, confidence intervals, regression, statistical inference, and descriptive analysis.
  • 3+ year working with Power BI
  • Familiarity with Tableau
  • 3+ years of experience working in an analyst role or related education.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

  • Bachelor’s degree (or very extensive commensurate experience) in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Mathematics, or a master’s degree in any of the above

  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating, and/or advising others on matters of significance.

Role Important Technical Skills

  • Communication skills. Information Technology Solution Architects must explain their work to top executives and give clear instructions to the other IT teams or other departments. The instructions must take complicated and technology specific language and communicate what is needed in a manner understandable by those not familiar with technology or application specific terminology.
  • Organizational skills. Information Technology Solution Architects must coordinate the work of several different IT employees and other departments to make the activities of the organization run efficiently.
  • Business skills. Information Technology Solution Architects must develop and implement strategic plans to reach the goals of their organizations. The ability to accurately estimate work, plan and schedule, and coordinate across business activities and departments is critical to the success of the application implements they are assigned.
  • Problem-solving skills. Information Technology Solution Architects must respond urgently to failures and alerts, rapidly uncovering and resolving flaws in computer systems, applications, infrastructure, and networks.
  • Decision Making skills. Information Technology Solution Architects must make important decisions about how to leverage and allocate resources and influence teams in order to reach the organizations’ project delivery goals and limit impact to other business goals and outcomes. This often requires understanding the complex context and business climate where the changes are being made.
  • Ingenuity. Information Technology Solution Architects must anticipate business activity changes, customer behavior changes and implement ways for their automations to adapt to their organizations’ computer systems and networks in dynamically changing environments.

Physical Requirements

Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to use basic math skills and spell accurately up to a high school graduate level. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
