Job Description:
The Dean of Middle College & Strategic Partnerships leads, coordinates, and supports all facets of Danville Community College’s Middle College Program and will assist the Office of Institutional Advancement & Development in the development of strategic partnerships. The Danville Community College’s Middle College Program works in partnership with all school divisions adult education programs to recover high school non-completers and lead them to a successful GED completion and, thereafter, a post-secondary community college experience (i.e. certificate, diploma or degree).
- Master’s Degree in a related field from an accredited university.
- Demonstrates information technology and analytical skills, and functional experience with Oracle PeopleSoft, Student Information Systems (SIS).
- Exhibits advanced level organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and ability to supervise office support staff.
- Demonstrates ability to work with diverse students, faculty, staff and community partners including local business and industry.

- Plays an integral role in the organization, and execution of the Danville Community College Middle College program.
- Coordinates the growth, development, and promotion of the Danville Community College Middle College Program, presents at local business and industry, initiates formal agreements with local business and industry, coordinates with Danville Public Schools Adult Education Program, solves problems, and serves as an advisor and a resource for the program participants.
- Assists in the oversight of participant recruitment by ensuring an optimal yield from assigned business and industry partners.
- Coordinates the integration of the GED completer into Danville Community College.
- Uses participant data to analyze the Middle College Program effectiveness and to determine and integrate best practices.
- Builds relationship with Danville Public Schools, Pittsylvania County Schools and Halifax County Schools Adult Ed/GED Programs to assess the needs of the adult participants upon GED completion.
- Assists with the Danville Community College Middle College Program’s operational strategies by evaluating trends, establishing critical measurements, determining productivity, quality, and customer service strategies, resolving problems, implementing change.
- Works with the Danville Community College Success Coaches and other college-led wrap around services (i.e Single Stop) to ensure participants are receiving information regarding these programs.
- Coordinates with Workforce Services or Academic & Student Services to provide the GED completer courses in response to participant needs (i.e. admission, registration, financial aid and other support services).
- Assists with marketing and promotion of Middle College Program services at local business and industry to ensure interest and participation in the Middle College Program.
- Re-establishes Danville Community College’s Summer Career Camps for middle school students
- Re-establishes Alliance for Excellence Program.
- Creates partnerships with Danville Church & Community Tutorial Program and/or other like community educational programs.
- Implements Danville Community College Food Service Program working with local restaurants to coordinate orders, schedule food deliveries, accept payment for food sales in Castle Café.
- Assists in developing the DCC Educational Foundation Annual Report.
- Acts as additional resource for planning, setup, breakdown of DCC Educational Foundation events.
- Serves on the Executive Council.
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates part-time program staff; works with part-time staff to assign responsibilities; determines program priorities and procedures.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned by the Vice President of Institutional Advancement & Development.
- Higher education and/or community college work experience.
- Knowledge of budgeting, planning and scheduling of multiple program functions.
- Knowledge of DCC’s workforce services, non-credit credentialing and academic programs.
