About the role
The Department of Genetics & Genome Biology is looking to recruit a technician as part of their Professional Services team, providing support to the student teaching programme and research laboratories.
In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of the recently created Phage Research Centre, contributing to a diverse range of ongoing scientific studies, provide technical support to practical modules within the Biological Sciences teaching curriculum and assist in maintaining shared departmental facilities and equipment.
Working as part of a team led by the Technical Services Manager, you will endeavour to address any areas of enhancement, to ensure the continuous improvement and effectiveness of the Department.
This is an excellent opportunity to learn and expand skills and techniques within the exciting field of bacteriophage therapy.
About you
You will have a scientific degree and/or at least 2 years prior relevant technical work experience, which includes expertise, skills and knowledge in microbiological and/or molecular biology techniques.
You will be a strong team player, who has a thorough understanding of relevant laboratory health and safety regulations and experience of training/instructing staff and students of different technical capabilities.Additional information
