This position is full time, exempt level, and works (in-person) in our Towson corporate office. Typical work hours are 40 hours per week between 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be required to accomplish the organizational and departmental mission.
This position supports our EWR Department and WBCM’s Mission by:
- Performing design of drainage ditches/storm drain systems, stormwater management facilities, stream restoration and channel stabilization, and erosion & sediment control for transportation and environmental mitigation/remediation projects.
- Developing high-quality stormwater management, erosion & sediment control, drainage design and associated contract documents including plans, technical reports, cost estimates, and specifications/special provisions.
- Preparing permitting packages including appropriate forms/applications, maps & exhibits, computations, and technical reports.
- Designing and drafting using AutoCAD, Microstation, and related software & extensions (InRoads/OpenRoads, HydraFlow, StormCAD, etc.).
- Performing hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, including TR-55/HydroCAD, TR-20, FlowMaster, HY-8 Culvert Analysis, and HEC-RAS modeling.
- Conducting field inspections which includes utilizing data collection applications/cameras/drones, traversing heavily vegetated terrain and major roadways, hauling field equipment, and recording detailed observations in dry- and wet-weather conditions.
The qualifications/skills you will bring to WBCM:
- 1-5 years of experience as a Designer. EIT is preferred.
- B.S. in Civil, Agricultural, or Environmental Engineering is preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
- Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks independently and efficiently.
- Desire for career growth and willingness to work with and learn from teammates at all levels.
- Experienced in TR-55, TR-20, HY-8, HEC-RAS, and Microsoft Office software.
- Exposure to ArcGIS, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Microstation.
- Excellent technical writing & oral communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics, stormwater management, drainage, and erosion & sediment control.
- Team oriented, self-motivated, proactive, and enthusiastic about civil engineering!
