Successful law firm seeks a skilled and experienced full-time Desktop Support Technician to join our IT team. Candidates must be available to work on site at the downtown Milwaukee, WI office. This position requires a highly motivated, organized professional capable of functioning in a fast-paced, challenging legal environment supporting the head office and seven branch offices. Reports to: IT Director and Milwaukee Managing Partner
Job purpose:
As a member of our IT team, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support to our employees and customers, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues, and ensuring that our IT systems are running efficiently and effectively. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing desktop support, a moderate understanding of Cloud knowledge, M365 and Document Management Systems, and a proven record of accomplishment of exceptional customer service and documentation skills. Bonus points for those who have scripting experience.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide technical support to employees and customers via phone, email, and in-person.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to desktop and laptop hardware and software.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software systems.
- Document technical issues and resolutions
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues on desktop and laptop computers.
- Install and configure software, hardware, and peripherals.
- Manage and maintain inventory of IT assets.
- Any special tasks or projects as assigned by Managing Partners or Office Manager.
- Availability for after-hours support as needed or for projects. Ability to work on site at downtown Chicago office and travel on site to Midwest satellite offices as needed.
- Other IT duties as assigned.
Education, Skills, and Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required, Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- 1- 2 years of IT Helpdesk experience, preferably supporting a legal office.
- Strong knowledge of basic desktop support skills, including hardware, software, and networking
- Experience with Cloud, M365, and DMS (Document Management System) is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think outside of the box.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Experience in a desktop support or technical support role is a plus.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Scripting experience is a plus.
- Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-task.
- Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure.
