About the Institution:

Museum Village blends the experience of a Hudson Valley village in the last quarter of the 19th century with our collection of historic buildings and added spaces for exhibits and experiential learning. Come explore the general store, pharmacy, meetinghouse, schoolhouse, trade shops, heritage farm breeds, and Centennial spaces as would have been experienced in 1876. Our educators and costumed interpreters bring the Centennial to life and invite our visitors to find inspiration, connection, and relevance in this often unexplored but deeply impactful period of our history.

Job Description:

The Development & Communications will work closely with the Executive Director to produce and support advertising, marketing, and programming materials for the Village, social media efforts, surveys, and data reporting.
The ideal candidate will be ready to work in a fast-paced environment that requires creative thinking, being well-organized, having a strong attention to detail.

Essential duties

  • Assists with the implementation of marketing efforts and outreach
  • Coordinates the drafting, approvals, and sending of email campaigns, social media campaigns, and other ongoing marketing campaigns
  • Manages flow of program and other updates for posting on the Museum’s website
  • Creates and coordinates partnerships with other non-profit organizations and local businesses for mutual promotional exchange and community engagement
  • Social media: creates and manages content for the Museum’s social media presence; researches social media best practices and current trends in the nonprofit arts sector; and creates and implements social media–based advertising campaigns
  • Gathers data from past Museum events and drafts communications for outreach on new events and to grow membership
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director to create marketing and outreach strategies to engage current members and grow all facets of the -Museum’s membership programs

Requirements

  • Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with an ability to adapt to the Museum’s “voice” on social media
  • Ability to work collaboratively, to build partnerships, and to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Proficient knowledge of social media platforms—Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Instagram, etc.
  • Proficiency using Word, Excel, Power Point, Adobe Suite,
  • Proficiency in electronic communications software such as ConstantContact and an HTML editor such as Dreamweaver
  • Familiarity with donor management database
  • Strong working knowledge of marketing, communications, digital/social media, advertising
  • Strong interest in history

This is currently a part-time position, with the possibility of it developing into a full-time position.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

Experience:

  • Fundraising: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Microsoft Office: 1 year (Preferred)
