DIRECTOR, ENTERPRISE IT OPERATIONS

SUMMARY OF ROLE:

We are looking for an experienced Director, Enterprise Information Technology (IT) Operations to build and lead a team of IT specialists in our fast-growing medical technology company. This individual will be responsible for the strategic oversight of IT projects and initiatives, building a team, and directing the team towards developing consistent company-wide IT systems, guidelines, processes, and procedures. The ideal candidate has a background in IT business processes, integrating, configuring, delivering, and maintaining enterprise software applications in either pre-commercial startups or commercial settings, and thrives in an environment with unknowns and meaningful problems to solve. This role is a group leader position whose contributions have critical impact on success of the department and organization and reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and execute projects to select, install, and validate systems and applications to support R&D, QA, Operations, Finance, Project Management Office, Customer Service, and production environments while developing deployment processes and monitoring to ensure high reliability production systems.

  • Work with stakeholders to refine business processes and translate needs to application requirements.

  • Provide strategic input and guidance on acquisition, configuration, and deployment of third-party software applications and platforms, in addition to applications that are built in-house.

  • Lead and build a qualified team of engineers and specialists that can help in all phases of the multiple IT projects and support our employees.

  • Work in a program management capacity with outside consultants and vendors to deliver required technologies.

  • Set goals, provide technical/business process mentorship and coaching, and foster professional growth within the team.

  • Establish quality, performance, cybersecurity, HIPAA, and other compliance policies and work with senior management team and/or external stakeholders to ensure standards are met.

  • Secure the company's intellectual property by adhering to state-of-the-art standards, such as ISO 27001 – Information & Data Security, SOC 2, etc.

  • Collaborate with staff to evaluate current systems to improve operations and reporting, determine short-term and long-term goals and appropriate resources for projects.

  • Provide, review and functionally approve internal and external documents relevant to US FDA and other regulatory agencies, as well as quality system requirements compliant with ISO 13485:2016.

  • Provide input to budget for costs of hardware and software tools, including solutions to drive efficiency.

  • Help with implementation of our business operations software infrastructure in alignment with Element Science Leadership.

  • Participate in and/or complete other activities as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or relevant field experience; Master's degree is a plus.

  • Cloud certifications or equivalent experience in either AWS or Azure preferred.

  • Networking certifications preferred.

  • Cyber Security certifications or Business Intelligence experience a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 12+ years of IT experience with at least 7 years of experience managing an IT department.

  • Proficient in the latest technologies for IT systems and management, especially within the medical device space or other regulated healthcare environment.

  • Thorough understanding of IT and practical applications to support company goals.

  • Proficient in deploying ERP / CRM systems, such as NetSuite, QAD, Salesforce.

  • Experience with medical device product development, or health IT fields, including HIPAA compliance.

  • Proven experience scaling multisite network infrastructure.

  • Experience in developing an IT roadmap and controlling an IT Budget.

  • High level relationships with IT stakeholders and vendors.

  • Experience in best practices in the medical cybersecurity industry.

  • Experience in deploying standards and achieving certified for cyber security frameworks, such as NIST, SOC 2 Type 2 , ISO 27001.

  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced, high-growth environment.

  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently while managing multiple projects.

  • Excellent analytical and management skills.

  • The salary for this exempt-level position will be based on experience and qualifications within an established pay range.

  • Salary Range: $180,000 - $200,000.
