Job Overview:
The Renesas IoT and Infrastructure Business Unit (IIBU) has a very broad range of innovative semiconductor solutions addressing 5G, Cloud Computing, Smart Factory/Home, consumer and industrial/automotive applications. The Central Engineering Division of IIBU supports all business divisions within IIBU on almost every aspects of NPI and production ramp up, including pre-silicon, post silicon and operational activities.

As the Director of Automotive Functional Safety Quality Engineering, you will analyze and communicate with customers on functional safety concepts and requirements for our next generation automotive analog and power products and ensure that all functional safety standards (ISO 26262, ISO 21448) are met. You will work closely with the development team to ensure that all processes are followed and ISO 26262 and ISO 21448 compliance is achieved.


Responsibilities:

  • Ensure functional safety feature is implemented in the IC design and within the project milestones.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Customer Safety Engineers.
  • Interpret customer safety requirements.
  • Develop and review the system safety architectures
  • Derive the Functional and Technical Safety Concepts for each product (FSC and TSC).
  • Perform the system safety analyses (e.g. FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA).
  • Define tests for verification and validation of safety requirements.
  • Perform and document safety analysis on the electrical hardware and software architecture design to address safety anomalies.
  • Develop and document hardware safety concepts and requirements to provide safety electrical hardware design recommendations.
  • Define test details/case for hardware and software safety requirements including fault injections.
  • Support the systems, software, and hardware test team in executing test cases with troubleshooting.
  • Perform safety impact analyses on new projects or architectures.
  • Act as a technical leader to coach, mentor and help the team on anything related to Automotive Functional Safety
  • Develop, derive, document and conduct safety concepts and requirements analysis for Automotive analog and power products
  • Prepare technical decision options as input for the rest of the team and for management escalation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or above degree in Computer/Electrical Engineer or comparable and 15+ years of experience in semiconductor/automotive industry.
  • Extensive experience delivering Functional Safety compliant automotive analog and power semiconductor products with successful deployment
  • Extensive experience with execution of FMEA, FMEDA, FTA and/or other FuSA analysis methods including PHA, HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study), SIL and RAMS analysis.
  • Experience with In-vehicle Infotainment (IVI) , Digital Cockpit and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
  • Detailed knowledge of functional safety architecture, standards and procedures such as ASIL, ISO26262
  • Experience working with OEM and Tier 1 customers.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, planning, and problem-solving/troubleshooting skills
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced engineering and technical environment
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to manage conflict in a stressful environment
  • Able to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Must be able to work independently with limited supervision
