DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS
FULL-TIME, AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY
SALARY RANGE: $68,521.44 - $77,409.80

SCOPE OF WORK: Serves as the Director of Admissions for White Mountains Community College with responsibility for developing, directing, and implementing a comprehensive recruitment plan, which is part of the overall enrollment management strategy, with a focus on recruitment and admissions. This position reports to the Vice President of Student Affairs at WMCC.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Manages the daily operations of the Admissions Office, including the counseling and academic advising of students, beginning with the application and admissions process.
  • Performs administrative duties associated with maintaining a safe work environment, supervising and training employees, communicating job expectations, monitoring and appraising job performance, and managing employee time and attendance in accordance with CCSNH and college policies and procedures, the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement, and state and federal regulations.
  • Develops and implements an annual recruitment plan in line with the college’s Strategic Plan, to include but not be limited to identifying new target markets, goals and action items for staff members and lead follow-up campaigns outlining interactions with prospects following their progression through the enrollment funnel, and communication strategies for a variety of market segments of prospective students.
  • Develops, directs, and participates in programs to promote the college and recruit and enroll students in support of the college’s enrollment goals. This may include: generating new markets; developing relationships with school guidance counselors and administrators; civic and agency leaders; presenting at schools, community organizations, college fairs, and job fairs; and collaborating with dual and concurrent enrollment efforts to plan events and create outreach campaigns and promotional materials.
  • Maintains and analyzes enrollment data to assess the success of recruitment strategies aimed at increasing enrollment and improving yield; utilizes enrollment data to develop and modify operating processes at all stages of the enrollment funnel.
  • Identifies enrollment trends and assists in developing enrollment goals and projections for the college, in conjunction with Academic Affairs and the Leadership Team. Examines trends and goals by program of study, geographic region, age, and for a variety of other targeted sub-populations, and utilizes data to inform enrollment and revenue projections and support Academic Affairs in program offering decisions.
  • Identifies, assesses, and modifies protocols for advising prospective students regarding the college and its programs relative to the students’ career interests and educational objectives.
  • Serves as co-chair of the Enrollment Management Committee, with the responsibility of overseeing the development and implementation of an enrollment management plan. Serves on other committees as assigned.
  • Works collaboratively with other offices integral to the admissions process, including Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Student Financial Services, and Workforce Development.
  • Remains current on enrollment trends and practices, and issues facing community colleges.
  • Serves as the primary functional administrator for Target X (a Sales Force CRM), responsible for implementation, maintenance, training of staff, and updating relevant policies and processes. Stays current in technology used by the college including TargetX, DegreeWorks, EAB Navigate, Banner, SIS, and other related platforms.
  • Complies with all system, college, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master's degree from a recognized college or university with major study in education, education administration, counseling, or closely related field. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: Five years of experience working in education in admissions, enrollment management, academic counseling, or closely related field with supervisory and/or program management experience.

License/Certification: Valid driver's license or access to statewide transportation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working in higher education preferred.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Occasional evening and weekend work required for participation in college events.

RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Considerable knowledge of counseling principles and techniques. Considerable knowledge of learning, behavior, and emotional patterns of young adults. Understanding of marketing and recruitment in a higher education environment. Experience with student information systems/databases, preferably with Ellucian Banner Software. Ability to analyze enrollment data and to prepare reports. Effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to identify, resolve, and consult on a wide range of enrollment issues while focusing on institutional needs and priorities. Ability to work well in a team environment. Ability to evaluate and analyze program effectiveness and resource utilization. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in the performance of duties. Project management skills including the ability to define projects, prioritize and manage multiple projects, measure and evaluate progress and outcomes, and meet timelines while producing quality work. Proficient in the use of technology, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other graphic presentation software. Knowledge of, achievement, prognostic, and placement tests and the techniques involved in their use and interpretation Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques. Ability to maintain rapport with students, faculty and staff. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college’s appointing authority.
