At Schwab, the Cloud Services Organization strives to empower Schwab development teams with an easy-to-use, self-service catalog of operationalized, secure cloud products meeting Schwab’s regulatory requirements that exceed Client expectations.

We are looking for an experienced Director of Cloud Operations to build best practices in optimizing cloud spend with IT, finance, and business teams. Along with leading Cloud cost strategy efforts. You will be working with a team of talented technologists and SMEs who bring a lot of energy, focus and fresh ideas that support our mission to provide value by seeing the world “Through Clients' Eyes.”

What you are good at

• 
  Collaborates with STS leadership to create technical and/or program implementation strategies that align with overall business strategy using deep technical and/or program management expertise
• Leads the largest cross-functional and cross-organizational projects and programs with high visibility, complexity, and impact on Schwab’s success
• Defines processes and tools that are used across various project/program management teams that utilize innovative techniques and practices
• Recognized externally as a thought leader within their industry or specialization
• Applies innovation and creativity to problem analysis and resolution in complicated and/or novel situations
• Uses a thorough understanding of industry and function to shape go-forward industry practices which provide a commercial advantage for Schwab
• Applies in-depth understanding of industry and business to differentiate Schwab from the competition
• Drives future technology/project/program roadmap and influences company direction across multiple business units
• Navigates at the highest level of the organization successfully to influence others allowing for successful project implementation and seamless processes
• Proactively identifies and assist with resolution of business and/or technical issues
• Continually sought out by others for guidance on a wide range of technical issues
• Promotes skill and career development within the team and across functions as a subject matter expert
• Proactively identifies coaching opportunities and follows through using an effective teaching
• Create and manage Cloud migration business case
• Develop comprehensive cloud consumption and optimization reporting utilizing both native, and 3rd party systems to provide near real-time insights into spend performance and opportunities for improvement.
• Interact with consumers and finance to provide guidance on charge-back activities, and to resolve disputes.
• Work directly with teams to develop an enterprise cloud optimization strategy for public cloud environments.
• Work directly with teams to provide insights into their cloud usage and costs; provide optimization recommendations based on both present and future planned cloud usage patterns.

What you have

• 
  Specialized domain knowledge and advanced business expertise
• Possesses specialized and working knowledge of related functions and sub-functions across STS
• Deep expertise in managing spending on at least one (ideally multiple) of the major Public Cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience in ensuring organizational adherence to cost and infrastructure optimization activities
• Experience in building IT budgets
• Demonstrate ownership of training, education, and awareness of FinOps optimization best practices.
