About Program Performance & Planning:
The Program Performance and Planning (PPP) team advances a culture of learning, strategic program development, and data-informed performance management in pursuit of that mission and vision. PPP partners with program managers to analyze and interpret data, assess service delivery and program effectiveness, apply learning from data analysis and feedback into program improvement efforts, and develop program resources to strengthen operations and service delivery.
About the Position:
Program Performance and Planning seeks a Director of Data Analytics to promote excellence through analysis, performance measurement, report production, data visualization, and synthesizing and reporting information to guide management decisions and to better leverage technology and data to make information more accessible to all partners at Graham (i.e. staff, families, community members, the Board of Directors and leadership).
The ideal candidate will have a mix of technical data analytics skills and a strong understanding of how non-profit management decision making can be supported by timely and reliable data. This person must be able to review, analyze, interpret, and succinctly summarize information from diverse sources, including quantitative data, service documentation, focus groups, and surveys. This person will need to work collaboratively at the intersection of data, technology, and management. Under the guidance of the Chief Performance Officer and in close partnership with program leadership and the IT team, the candidate will advance the use of data analytics across the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise one Assistant Performance Analyst.
  • Develop, deploy, and manage reports, dashboards, and other analysis products for use by internal teams, in close collaboration with performance analysts, agency leaders, the IT team, and other key stakeholders.
  • Lead the development of reports and analyses for the Board of Directors, funders, and other key partners and stakeholders.
  • In partnership with the Chief Performance Officer, develop and manage agency-wide performance measures, executive dashboards, targets and benchmarks.
  • Collaborate closely with the IT team to optimize our data structures, data governance, report administration processes, and data-related workflows.
  • In close partnership with the Chief Performance Officer and the IT team, lead the agency’s adoption and use of PowerBI and other data analytics and reporting tools.
  • Prepare analyses for, participate in, and facilitate various meetings on organizational performance.
  • Conduct in depth analyses and support data needs of research and evaluation projects.
  • Develop and manage a data analytics internship program support agency analysis needs while also providing learning opportunities and exposure to the non-profit sector for students perusing data analytics careers.
  • Train, coach, and support performance analysts and other internal staff on conducting data access, cleaning, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Partner with universities and other partners to explore leveraging advances in data science, technology, and predictive analytics to support our practice.
  • Support the publication of promising practice to share more widely our successes.
  • Support and/or lead agency-wide improvement projects being managed by the PPP team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3 years’ experience in data analytics, data visualization, performance measurement, or related role.
  • Mastery of MS Excel and Power Point
  • Must have excellent data analysis and visualization skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to mission-driven organizations, and a strongly held belief that children and families can succeed.
  • Detailed oriented, with excellent written and oral presentation skills.
  • Experience in non-profit human services a plus.
  • Experience using Microsoft SQL and PowerBI a significant plus, and if not, must be willing and able to learn.
  • Some supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be willing to travel throughout NYC, as needed.

This position will be primarily remote, with an expectation of regular but flexible in-person workdays in either Downtown Brooklyn, in upper Manhattan and/or the Bronx.
