An industrial solutions provider in bearings, motion components, and assemblies is seeking a Director of Finance to join its team in Kentwood, MI. This position will be responsible for applying principles of accounting to record financial information and prepare financial reports, as well as assisting the executive team in managing the organization’s accounting and financial reporting functions. Experience in manufacturing accounting is required, and exposure to international operations is ideal. Areas of responsibility will include preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, regular budgeting, plant reporting, and tracking continuous improvement measures as it relates to budget.
Director of Finance Responsibilities
· Complete month end closing and financial reporting process for multiple divisions domestically and internationally, including account analysis and reconciliation
· Prepare monthly financial statements for multiple divisions along with any monthly, quarterly, and annual analysis
· Present the various accounting reports to executive management and make suitable observations and recommendations
· Prepare, evaluate and maintain budgets
· Preparing entries to accounts and document business transactions
· Auditing contract terms, orders and vouchers and/or preparing reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement
· Manage accounts payable/receivable
· Responsible for overseeing accounting procedures, internal controls (implementing, monitoring, enhancing), and database management
· Set the direction of the accounting functions of the organization
· Assist with cash flow monitoring and management
· Assist in the management of capital requests as well as capital funding
· Managing operational data and maintaining data accuracy and integrity
· Serve as project manager for any system implementation or upgrades
· Reviewing financial data periodically to ensure fairness and completeness of the data
· Works on special projects, if requested; assist with yearly review preparation
Director of Finance Responsibilities
· Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field
· 5+ years of related experience in accounting and finance with experience at the managerial level
· Manufacturing accounting experience required; international operations experience ideal
· Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills; high degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality
· Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages and volume
· Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to changes in procedures
· Proficient at analyzing financial data and promptly creating accurate reports
