Ketjen Corporation, a wholly own subsidiary of Albemarle Corporation, is seeking a Director of Global CAPEX Engineering to support our global business. This position will be based at our Houston/Clear Lake office and will report to the COO.
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
The Director of CAPEX Engineering is expected to lead the CAPEX Engineering department for Ketjen. In this position, the Director of CAPEX Engineering will play an active role in ensuring the development and completion of projects, the planning and monitoring of work, and budget spending is carried out completely and on time. It will be critical that Ketjen has a strong CAPEX strategy that supports the business and the goal of being cash flow positive in 2025 or sooner. Hiring, talent development, and mentoring will be carried out by this position for the CAPEX Engineering organization. The person in this role will ensure that the Ketjen Project Process (KPP) is established and carried out effectively so that CAPEX spend is effective and on time.
The position will report to the Ketjen COO, be a member of the Global Operations Team (GOLT), and collaborate closely with the other GOLT members and business partners.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Implementation and execution of Ketjen Project Process (KPP).
  • Development of the Annual and Long-Range Plan (LRP) for CAPEX investments in collaboration with Manufacturing, Process Technology, and Procurement. Frame templates for logging information and gaining consensus.
  • Ensure capable planning and coordination of the capital project work of engineering staff.
  • Set goals for CAPEX Engineering Organization to ensure the right capital projects and completed on time and on budget.
  • Regularly engage, develop, and enable engineering staff to ensure that they meet their project goals.
  • Mentor, develop, coach, and hire additional CAPEX Engineering staff as needed.
  • Regularly empower the organization and facilitate collaboration and strong problem-solving capabilities throughout the organization.
  • Ensure projects are on schedule and within budget.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Extensive technical knowledge of engineering, problem solving, process and product development.
  • Strong Project Management and Execution skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent leadership, managerial, and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good financial skills and ability to analyze financial data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, and other regularly utilized IT systems/software.
  • Ability to motivate and develop others.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Masters degree in Engineering or Business Administration preferred.
  • At least ten years of CAPEX experience required.
  • At least five years of Production Management or Process Engineering required.
  • At least ten years of managerial experience required.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of engineering and product development, preferred.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the industry.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Ability to traverse manufacturing facility wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
