AUSTIN OAKS HOSPITAL is currently seeking a talented and dynamic Director of Intake and Assessment to join our team of dedicated professionals.

Position Summary:

The Director will be responsible for the Assessment and Referral activities at the facility. As a clinician, this position provides direction to a staff of Assessment & Referral Counselors in the provision of psychiatric assessment services, including clinical evaluations, crisis intervention, and referrals. This position interfaces closely with the medical staff, fellow department heads and administration, treatment team/external case managers/managed care organizations, functions as a liaison with other hospital intake departments.

AUSTIN OAKS HOSPITAL provides acute inpatient psychiatric services for Adults, Adolescents, and Children. Austin Oaks Hospital is located in South Austin and offers competitive wages, paid time off, extended leave, 401k, cafeteria and on-site parking.

QUALIFICATIONS:

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to prioritize.
  • Demonstrated understanding of funding entities.
  • Basic understanding of computers.
  • Able to work flexible hours.
  • Able to supervise staff and provide advice as needed.
  • Able to evaluate staff against the criteria in their job descriptions.

EDUCATION:

Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, mental health or related field; Master's degree preferred.

Licensure: R.N., L.M.S.W., LPC or applicable license.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: A minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting; one (1) year leadership experience managing a related function, preferred. Five years clinical experience in a behavioral health setting preferably in Admissions.
