The Team:
The Merchandising team supports Hermès of Paris US business by managing the process of sales forecasting, open to buy (OTB), merchandise selection, inventory management, reporting and analysis. The Merchandising ream develops strategies and sets clear direction to maximize business performance.
The Opportunity:
As the Director of Merchandising, you will be responsible for overseeing the process of merchandise selection and inventory management in a multi-local buying environment. You will develop strategies and set clear direction to maximize business performance, review business plan ensuring objectives are met, and prepare store assortments for new locations and renovations. As Director of Merchandising you will have a strong rapport with Paris office and métier management and all support areas.
About the Role:
- Inventory management through directing, supervising, coaching, and developing for retail locations and E-commerce (i.e. transfers, stock rotation, incentives, etc.).
- Develop strategies and utilize programs to optimize inventories and achieve budgeted sales including buying, re-orders, re-allocation, delivery prioritization and development of sales incentives.
- Understand competitors’ strengths, weaknesses and strategies and creating corresponding business initiatives to compete.
- Facilitate and promote communication to encourage participation and inspire contribution between retail stores, merchandising and concessionaires.
- Conduct sales analysis to understand opportunities to grow businesses.
- Direct and manage Open to Buy (OTB) and buying strategy for Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter buys for retail stores and E-commerce.
- Lead product assortment and support in preparation for store animations and store openings.
- Partner with Talent Development for product training in retail.

About You:
- 7-10 years of relevant experience in retail buying, retail management and merchandising with strong brand identity
- Proven analytical ability to synthesize data from different systems to understand business trends and provide forward-thinking insight
- Effective leader with the ability to provide direction in line with company objectives
- Expert in Microsoft Excel
- High level of attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and follow up skills
- Results driven; strategic conceptual and innovative thinker
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster inter-departmental relationships
- Proven excellence at meeting long and short-term deadlines
- French is a plus, but not a requirement
- Strong written, verbal, and analytical skills
The range for this position is $106,574.00 - $177,290.00. Actual rates are determined based on the job, location, and individual experience.
