Job description

La Palma United Methodist Church is looking for a director of music ministries.

Responsibilities include:

• Serve as the primary accompanist for all worship services and special music programs at the church.
• Rehearse and direct the church choir. Rehearse and accompany praise team.
• Select and order appropriate choir music, selecting music for praise would also be appreciated.
• Arrange substitute accompanist.
• Develop future music programs such as hand bell, and/or youth choir.
• Available for additional Easter or Christmas Services.

Qualifications include:

• Must be committed to the Lord Jesus Christ and His worship.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or possess legal papers for employment.
• Must be proficient on piano and/or electric piano.
• Must be familiar with a wide range of traditional and contemporary Christian music.
• Must be able to sight read music.
• Previous experience is preferred but not required.

Responsible to the Charge Pastor and Staff-Parish Relations Committee

Work hours:

• 5-10 hours a week, normally 4 on Sunday and the balance in preparation and rehearsal during the week.

Salary:

• The gross salary for a 50-week year will be 6,500 and is negotiable, but is subject to required with-holdings.
