The Director of Occupational Health and Safety will develop, coordinate, and implement occupational health and safety policies and procedures to ensure that company operations are being conducted effectively and in compliance with regulatory safety standards. This position is responsible for ensuring that OSHA standards are met, developing policies that will maintain a safe work environment for all employees, and overseeing a staff of Safety Coordinators.

Qualifications:

  • At least seven years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment required
  • At least 2 years of direct management experience in a safety role is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or a related field is preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience conducting safety trainings is required
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Job Description:

  • Establish and promote the maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions through formulating safety and health policies and measures
  • Devise and coordinate safety programs that will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousness
  • Assist line management in meeting their obligations under the relevant Occupational Health and Safety legislation, such as ongoing safety education, hazard identification, and elimination
  • Coordinate ongoing training for safety and environmental awareness at all levels of the workforce and regularly verify tasks are correctly executed
  • Inspect workplaces regularly to audit safety and environmental procedures, and report findings to management as appropriate
  • Investigate accidents, prepare and maintain required reports. Identify countermeasures to prevent reoccurrence
  • Provide new hire orientation outlining the company's high expectations regarding safety rules and regulations
  • Promote a proactive safety culture focused on incident prevention and regulatory compliance
  • Develop specific safety objectives and create action plans to meet those objectives
  • Maintain, review and report safety performance, identifying opportunities for improvement along with implementing preventative and corrective actions as required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
