Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a member of the school Leadership Team
- Oversee transition and registration processes of incoming students
- Assign and oversee student case management
- Collaborate with Department Chairs and develop a master schedule that balances academic rigor with accessibility and student interest
- Maintain access to multiple pathways of education such as Flexible Pathways, Early College, Dual Enrollment, Distance Learning, and Career and Technical Programs
- Provide outreach and family engagement opportunities such as 9th grade orientation, Junior and Senior Workshops, and Parent information nights
- Ensure accurate credit and transcript information
- Stay current with, and support students in, post high school application processes
- Supervise student schedules to include course changes
- Oversee standardized and federal/state testing
- Prepare and disseminate the annual Program of Studies
- Collaborate with community education partners such as Adult Basic Education, Youthbuild, and Job Corps
- Maintain professional relationships with regional counseling administrators and service providers
- Provide oversight and management of Student Information Systems
- Supervise and evaluate school counselors and departments staff to include hiring, training, assigning responsibilities, and resolving conflicts
- Oversee department budget
- Identify relevant training and collaborate with Principal to deliver to appropriate staff

The district operates Barre City Elementary & Middle School, Barre Town Middle & Elementary School and Spaulding High School for approximately 2,200 students. In addition to the regular school program, Barre Unified Union School District offers a full range of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, extended summer learning opportunities, and after-school enrichment programs.
The Barre Unified Union School District (BUUSD) is located in the heart of Central Vermont in Washington County. Barre City has approximately 9,000 residents and is the 4th largest city in Vermont (after Burlington, South Burlington, and Rutland). Barre Town is home to four surrounding villages, including East Barre, Graniteville, South Barre, and Websterville, with a population of approximately 8,000.

Spaulding High School, which the students of Barre City Elementary and Middle School and Barre Town Elementary and Middle School attend, is the oldest continuously named high school in the state of Vermont, and spouts Tide Pride! Job Requirements
- Vermont School Counseling licensure (3-64) required.
Bachelor's Degree or experience in social work strongly preferred. - At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
- Bachelor degree preferred
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
