About the Position: The Director of Special Education with perform administrative functions and responsibilities for the daily operation and management of the education program at Cedar Springs Hospital. This will include staffing, certification, budget preparation, CDE and all other applicable state and federal education laws to include NCA, as well as compliance with other regulatory agencies. Responsible for the supervision of all Southgate school staff. This position will supervise several teachers and mental health specialists, and substitute teachers. This position reports to the CEO.
Requirements:Understanding of both federal and state education regulations and laws, in both special education and regular education. Working knowledge of all educational regulatory agency standards and requirements. Requires leadership, creativity, high energy, organizational, supervisory, administrative abilities and problem-solving skills. Also requires verbal/written, interpersonal and customer service skills. Working knowledge of software programs such as Windows, Word, Excel, etc. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Working knowledge of JC standards and DHS rules and regulations. Requires ability to exercise independent judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

- an electronic entry in the Colorado Immunization Information System (CIIS); OR
- an immunization record from a licensed healthcare provider who has administered a COVID-19 vaccine to an individual who provides services for the facility or agency, specifying the vaccine administered, name and title of the person who administered the vaccine, address of the location where the vaccine was administered, and the date it was administered. A
COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card (issued by the Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Disease Control & Prevention or WHO Yellow Card) which includes name of person vaccinated, type of vaccine provided, and date last dose administered would suffice.
Exemptions
Workers may be exempt from the vaccination requirements by providing a signed exemption form indicating one of the following:
Religious Beliefs- Qualifying Medical Reason
To be eligible for an exemption based on Religious Beliefs, the worker must provide a written statement describing the worker’s sincerely held religious beliefs and how those beliefs conflict with Colorado’s August 21, 2021 Public Health Order requiring certain healthcare workers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The company may request supporting documentation to further evaluate the request for religious accommodation.
To be eligible for a Qualified Medical Reason exemption, the worker must provide a written statement signed by a physician, physician assistant, advanced practice nurse, or certified nurse midwife licensed in the State of Colorado stating that the COVID-19 vaccination for the employee, direct contractor, or support staff is medically contraindicated as described in the product labeling or authorized by the FDA. This statement should not describe the underlying medical condition or disability but should indicate the probable duration of the inability to receive the vaccine.
A record of signed exemption forms and statements submitted in support of the exemption request must be maintained in a confidential HR Medical file, separate from the Personnel File.
