ROLE SUMMARY:

The Retail Finance Director is the business partner to the Commercial leader for DSC Retail (sales of our products through our retail customers) as well as to the CMO in their oversight of new product innovation. He/she will provide timely and actionable advice on all DSC Retail topics from target setting, to performance management and financial controls. He/she will represent finance at DSC's S&OP forum and be the single point contact to the broader Unilever North America Finance org. Lastly, he/she will partner closely with the rest of the DSC Finance team and DSC CMO organization to inform DSC's Omni Innovation outlook and performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business partner to DSC Retail Commercial Lead

  • Business Partner to the Commercial Leader for DSC's Retail initiative and their core management team (cross-functional Sales, Supply Chain, Marketing). Represents Finance at DSC Retail S&OP meetings & cross-functional forums.
  • Strategic thinker alongside the Commercial Leader in building DSC Retail's 3-Year strategy.
  • Manage and execute against DSC's Retail financial target framework process. Bridges alignment to DSC's Omnichannel guidance and subsequent Retail targets. Ensures that the retail channel maximizes net value creation for the Brand bringing an Omnichannel lens.
  • Lead Financial Performance Management across KPIs and overall financial statements. Provides all necessary reporting and insights to enable timely decision making.
  • Leadership role in bringing forward actionable and commercially feasible recommendations to drive value creation.
  • Lead Financial Forecasting process for DSC Retail in partnership with the DSC Finance team.
  • Be the point of contact for the Unilever NA Finance team on all things DSC Retail. Ensure alignment and fluid communication.

Partner with Commercial Teams on Omnichannel New Product Innovation

  • Lead cross-channel finance team in partnering with the retail and DTC commercial/innovation teams to develop the business case for DSC's Omni Innovation Roadmap. Ensures strategy is fit for purpose to maximize value creation across all channels. Represents finance in innovation process.
  • Lead innovation performance management for in-year launches, identifying & deploying on accelerations or pivots as needed.

Steward of the accuracy and robustness of the financial statements

  • Maintain the appropriate controls (in Actuals and Budgets) for Trade, Coupons, Shopper Marketing, Asset Creation, Media Buying and Overhead investments.
  • Define and execute cross-channel allocations, validate methodology and proper documentation for tax/controllership purposes.

Leadership, Management and Team building.

  • Attracting, hiring & retaining best in class financial and business analyst(s).
  • Assessing skills & building career development plans for team member(s)
  • Performance management and upholding deadlines/goals for team member(s)
  • Mentoring the team on both functional and career development paths.
  • Setting actionable goals for direct report(s), aligned with our company goals
  • Fostering good working relationships both within their team and across the business

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Finance, Economics, or other technical field; Master's or MBA preferred
  • 5-7+ years relevant experience in CPG retail; Proven track record in financial management of a business; preferably some D2C ecommerce experience, ideally subscription-based ecommerce
  • Strong proficiency in Excel is required; experience in SAP, Hyperion a plus
  • Proven track record in business partnership capabilities; has the gravitas and drive to be an effective business partner
  • Proven leaders well as a hands-on team contributor
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders & competing agendas; ability to unify and influence effectively
  • Flexible team player who is looking to thrive in a fast-growing and often-times uncertain environment
  • A "get it done" attitude and approach to the job
  • Strong work ethic and track record of high productivity with strong written and verbal communication skills

POSITION TYPE:

This is a full-time exempt position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is a hybrid role at our Headquarters in Marina Del Rey.

SALARY:

$150,000 - $185,000 with bonus eligibility
