Northrop Grumman Tactical Space Systems Division (TSSD) is currently hiring a Director Software Engineering I to join our team of qualified, diverse management team. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing the personnel, processes and tools to meet the current and future needs of the program and technologies within TSSD’s business units: Civil and Commercial Satellites (CCS), National Security Space (NSS) and Space Security (SPS).

The successful candidate will be able to:

Additionally, the position duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Support the Director, Control Systems Engineering with the development of executive level briefings for TSSD division meetings

  • Manage budgets required for the Control Systems Engineering directorate.

  • Provide oversite and leadership to TSSD’s Software Digital Transformation (SWDT) team (to include Agile, Cybersecurity, DevOps, and Systems Administration teams).

  • Provide the technical and people leadership needed to establish and maintain an exceptional SWDT organization across multiple locations, business units, and programs.

  • Provide the technical and people leadership needed to establish and maintain an exceptional cyber security posture for our TSSD labs, environments and software products

  • Establish and maintain the discipline specific processes and tools for TSSD Agile, Cybersecurity, DevOps and Systems Administration.

  • Champion consistency across the SWDT disciplines ensuring reuse, common tools and training/skill development through all levels of the organization.

  • Identify high quality technical personnel to meet the increasing demand of the business.

  • Capable of strong partnership to ensure lockstep coordination with adjacent discipline areas and program manager leadership.

  • Facilitate and promote Affordability, Knowledge Management, Engineering Utilization, and other process improvement initiatives including the implementation and monitoring of metrics covering engineering efficiency and quality, as well as sharing of lessons learned and best practices throughout the organization.

  • Accountability for recruiting, staffing, and retaining talent to deliver on the objectives.

  • Identification of high-quality technical personnel to meet the increasing demand of the business.

  • Manage and maintain the directorate training plan.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) or related technical area.

  • 10 years of Cybersecurity, Software, or Systems Engineering related experience

  • Experience in a technical leadership / functional management role

  • Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC)

  • Active Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI level access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Engineering or other STEM discipline and/or MBA degree

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance

  • Certifications in any of the following: CISSP, Security+, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Agilist or Certified Scrum Master

  • Experience implementing DevOps principles

  • Prior experience with Space Systems and/or Ground Systems

  • Experience with Earned Value Management.

  • Proven experience leading diverse technical teams across multiple locations

  • Experience in successfully developing and integrating software and hardware solutions



Salary Range: $204,100 USD - $306,100 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
