Job Summary:
The Director of Technical Assistance has primary responsibilities for: 1) managing the implementation, execution, and development of TAU approaches that support child welfare system reform efforts, and 2) supervising and managing staff and collaborating with internal and external partners in planning and implementing TAU approaches.
- Manages the implementation, execution, and development of TAU systems change approaches in jurisdictions, including managing requests for assistance; oversight and development of the work; acting as an internal and external resource/expert on specific TAU approaches; providing pre-consultations before request are submitted; and leading the refinement and implementation of current TAU approaches in jurisdictions and the development of new approaches.
- Supervision of direct reports and matrix management and coaching of non-direct reports, including providing training, development, and leadership support to staff across the TAU work unit, delivering timely feedback, and offering coaching and assessments of work.
- Manages strategic approaches to teaming and collaborating effectively with TAU staff, other Casey teams, and a broad base of stakeholders on a national, state, and local level by managing teams implementing TAU approaches. This includes functioning as a TAU liaison to Strategic Consultants and Strategic Consulting Teams, actively participating on the TAU Leadership Team and actively participating in internal and external workshops, committees, work efforts, and other duties as assigned
- Manages leadership development and engagement initiatives for staff, constituents, child welfare systems, and Casey partners relevant to engaging community and constituency members.
- Develops, refines, and manages evaluations and quality improvement strategies for specific TAU approaches.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (required)/Master’s Degree (preferred) in Social Work, Public Administration or other closely related field, plus a minimum of seven years’ experience in child welfare or closely related field and at least five years of management, supervision, or coordination of a team is required.
- Knowledge of permanency and transition services as related to the field of child welfare required. Demonstrated experience in child welfare and continuous quality improvement. Knowledge and experience in social service program evaluation. Understanding of the national landscape of child welfare and social sector required.
- Demonstrated ability to lead systems improvement work in a deadline and data-driven environment is required. This includes managing multiple-tasks and deadlines and moving work forward in a timely manner, preparing work plans, delegating tasks, overseeing follow-through, and keeping supervisor informed of project(s) work plan.
- Project management and facilitation expertise required, as well as budget and program planning experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in the following skill areas - relationship-building skills, analytical skills, communication skills, implementation skills, and continuous quality improvement skills.
- Technical skills: Experience with MS Office is essential. Demonstrated ability to learn other pertinent software programs as required.
- Demonstrated skills effectively leading and communicating to broad audiences at all levels.
- This is a regular full-time position that may require travel 50% or more of the time.
- Ability to protect the confidentiality of sensitive information by learning and following all relevant policies and protocols and using sound judgment in the handling and sharing of that information.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift and reach for light objects; close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, text, and figures; ability to type utilizing a computer keyboard; ability to travel to outside locations; and the ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time as a primary job function. - Driving on Casey business may require use of personal vehicle; adherence to vehicle safety guidelines and qualification for insurance is required.
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography. In accordance with the law, the base salary for this position if filled within Colorado is $109,000 to $128,000. The base salary if filled within California is $114,000 to $148,000. The base salary if filled within New York City will be $126,000 to $148,000. And the base salary if filled within Washington state will be $114,000 to $134,000.

Additionally, employees are eligible to accrue paid time off, starting at 8 hours per month of annual leave and 8 hours of sick time per month in the first year of employment. Casey Family Programs also observes 10 paid holidays per year and each employee receives one personal holiday to use each calendar year. Employees that meet certain tenure qualifiers are eligible for up to eight weeks of parental leave for the birth or placement of a child for adoption or foster care. After the completion of 10 years of continuous, full-time employment, employees in good standing are eligible for a three-month sabbatical with pay.
