Job description
Under the supervision of the Executive Sous Chef, this position is responsible for maintaining a clean kitchen, properly wash and sort soiled dishes, and keeps dish area free of clutter and organized. This position is expected to follow proper health codes to ensure sanitation processes are being met.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains a clean kitchen, properly wash, and sort soiled dishes.
- Keeps dish area free of clutter and organized.
- Maintains clean/dry floors throughout shift.
- Properly washes, stacks, and stores dishes, glassware, silverware, cookware, and storage containers.
- Understands and complies with County/State/Federal health codes to ensure health and safety of the customer.
- Changes water of machines and sinks every two hours or more often as required by New Freedom Standards, and properly uses chemical dilutions set by Ecolab.
- Assists in the timely storing of food deliveries.
- Maintains trash cans throughout shift and removes full trashcans and boxes at the end of each shift.
- Maintains dry storage area and organization of storage shelves.
- Follows posted daily dish cleaning duties.
- Handles chemicals for designated uses/surfaces in accordance with Safety Data Sheets.
- Adjusts quantity of food prep depending on fluctuating peaks in client flow, acuity, and other operational demands while maintaining quality.
- Collaborates professionally with courtesy and tact when interacting with the leadership team, employees, and clients.
- In addition, all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong ability to multitask, time management skills, punctuality, and strong hygienic practices
- Computer skills knowledge – MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.) to log kitchen supplies, complete required trainings, and respond to department/company communications
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, also demonstrating receptiveness to learning new skills and knowledge while on the job, especially as it relates to the use of chemicals and understanding basic safety procedures
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate an understanding of HIPAA
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
- Must be willing to learn and ask questions, accept feedback and be accountable, demonstrating initiative when working alone and/or as part of a team
- Must be able to lift 30-50 lbs. and stand for extended periods of time
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a kitchen and/or food service industry
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Valid AZ driver’s license may be required
- Successful clearance of annual MVR may be required
- Successful completion and maintaining of valid Food Handler’s Certification required
- Successful clearance of pre-employment criminal/county/state background check
- Successful clearance of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
- Successful clearance of annual TB PPD testing
