Coos Forest Protective Association (Coos FPA) is recruiting for the Association’s next District Manager. The position is located in Coos Bay, Oregon. This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified people.

ORGANIZATION: Founded in 1910, Coos Forest Protective Association is a private, non-profit corporation with its headquarters located in Coos Bay, Oregon. CFPA has responsibility for providing protection from fires for its membership lands along the Southern Oregon Coast beginning at the California line and extending north through Curry, Coos and western Douglas Counties, terminating at the Lane County line. Under an agreement with the Oregon State Forester, the Association also provides protection to other private, state, county and federal lands through the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) by contract and by ORS Chapters 477 and 526.

The objective of the Coos Forest Protective Association is to minimize the cost of suppression and the damage to the forest and watershed environment caused by wildfire and to respond to all fire control emergencies with an effective, well-trained, equipped and supervised fire control organization sufficient to achieve optimum suppression results.

COMPENSATION: $6,480 to $10,023 monthly salary. This position is exempt from overtime and qualifies to take advantage of our suite of benefits: health, dental, vision and life insurance, as well as vacation, sick and personal leave. Association 401k retirement plan is also provided.

TO QUALIFY:

• You must have a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in supervision and staff level work related to Oregon forest fire protection and wildland fire fighting.
• You must have a working knowledge of Oregon Forest Laws and State and Federal labor laws relating to private industry.
• You must be able to coordinate and manage all activities of Coos FPA on approximately 1.5 million acres.
• Maintain active communications with the Coos FPA Board of Directors.
• Maintain contacts with local public officials that are necessary for the effective operation of the Coos FPA.
• Provide necessary contact between the State Forester, rural and city fire departments, interagency coordination with BLM, USFS and government to government affairs with tribal officials and BIA within the district.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Meet on a regular basis with the Board of Directors, Members, general public and industry.
• May include long hours and infrequent days off, especially during fire season.
• May include overnight travel, travel on forest roads and working in a forest environment.
