InterAct Story Theatre, a professional theatre for children and families based in Montgomery County, is hiring part-time teachers and teaching artists to teach in our Creative Kids after school drama program for our winter and spring 2023 sessions. Creative Kids is a literature-based after school program that runs classes in schools throughout DC, Baltimore, suburban MD, and Northern Virginia.

Creative Kids Drama teachers lead students in exploring books and folktales as actors and dramatizing stories. We serve primarily preschool and elementary school-aged children. Creative Kids teachers use InterAct Story Theatre’s curriculum and class materials. Class sizes are generally 8 to 15 children, and typically meet once a week after school for 6 to 10 weeks for 45-60 minutes. Occasional morning or early afternoon classes are available; most programs are after school.

Experience in theatre and some experience with children or teaching is required. Candidate must also have a car or other reliable transportation to reach our schools (many of which are not Metro accessible). All candidates must provide proof of Covid vaccination and booster.

Candidates must be available to teach at least one 45- to 60-minute class per week for a 6-10 week session. The pay rate is $40 per class plus mileage outside of your home radius. InterAct Story Theatre provides paid training as well as all lesson plans and curriculum materials.
