Northampton County Human Services has a position available for a Case Management Specialist in the Drug & Alcohol Division.

Job description: Required job skills include the ability to screen and assess clients to determine their need for addiction treatment, the level of care of such treatment, and the need for any supportive services to help them achieve and maintain a sober, clean lifestyle, as well as the ability to work as an integral part of the professional Drug Court Treatment Team. Other job related tasks include ongoing case management, authorization of services, and utilization review.

Case Management Specialists are trained to perform Drug & Alcohol Evaluations and have been providing them as a "walk-in" service to the public as well as providing them to other Divisions, such as clients involved with Children, Youth & Families. They help people in need as well as other professionals and members of the community navigate the Drug & Alcohol Treatment system.

The Case Management Specialist has a keen awareness of the need for treatment to be offered immediately following the screening and assessment process and can facilitate placement in treatment to a person in need immediately, via phone or in person.

This professional will work in accordance with established regulations, policies, and procedures, but is expected to exercise initiative and independent judgement while performing the duties in this important role.

Job requirements: Completion of a high school, or general equivalency diploma; AND

One year as a Drug and Alcohol Case Management Specialist Trainee;

OR

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Dependency, Sociology, Social Welfare, Psychology, Nursing or related field, AND one (1) year direct service experience (direct client contact) performing counseling or case management work in alcohol or other drug treatment setting;

OR

A Bachelor’s degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 18 college credits in Sociology, Social Welfare, Psychology, Criminal Justice or other related social sciences, AND one (1) year of direct service experience performing counseling or case management work in alcohol or other drug treatment setting;

OR

Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $43,572.00 per year
