About the Position:
TJFACT is seeking to hire a Drug Supply Reduction Program Advisor I* in Washington, DC* to join our team!

The Drug Supply Reduction Program Advisor, referred to as Assistant, for the remainder of this document, will provide technical expertise, program assistance and support expertise to INL/GPP on the management of Drug Supply Reduction programs, particularly in the area of synthetic drugs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates as a team member responsible for the Drug Supply Reduction program in support of the Supervisory Foreign Affairs Officer/Team Leader.
  • Advises the Supervisory Foreign Affairs Officer/Team Leader on the daily implementation of the Drug Supply Reduction program.
  • Provides logistics and administrative support, prepares documentation, briefing materials and all other necessary correspondence concerning the Drug Supply Reduction program issues.
  • Establishes and maintains professional relationships with office and other INL colleagues, members of USG law enforcement agencies, and USG personnel assigned to US Embassies.
  • Provides program guidance to the Supervisory Foreign Affairs Officer/Team leader as on the administration of the Drug Supply Reduction program.
  • Supports development, monitoring, and the implementation and performance of programs and projects being implemented through the Drug Supply Reduction budget line.
  • Drafts a variety of technical, programmatic, funding, and informational memoranda and other documentation; assists in the preparation of Congressional testimony or responses to questions, press guidance, and interagency documents in accordance with Department policies and regulations.
  • Liaises with U.S. intra-agency partners advising them of stated policies and programs in the area of Drug Supply Reduction to include briefings, both written and oral, to senior officials.
  • Assists the Supervisory Foreign Affairs Officer/Team Leader on drafting, reviewing, and amending procurement requests and other documents required to obligate funding through the Drug Supply Reduction line item, including interagency agreements, grants, and letters of agreement with international organizations, as assigned.
  • Assists in planning and managing funds in coordination with partner agencies, international organizations, and other implementers.
  • Supports Bureau and Department principals through the drafting of policy papers and briefing memoranda as well as providing logistical and policy support for travel and congressional testimony, as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution;
  • Zero to two years’ experience in relevant field;
  • Demonstrated ability to work on projects and issues within overall policy guidelines;
  • Demonstrated skilled in oral and written communication, sufficient to draft action and info
  • memos, congressional testimony, press guidance and congressional and general correspondence;
  • Knowledge of international narcotics and law enforcement issues.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated experience working with the Department of State.
  • Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of the State Department’s foreign assistance process, the structure and hierarchy of U.S. embassies, and familiarity with the interagency law enforcement community.
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written English communication skills and superior interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working on counternarcotics issues.
