DSHS FFA Revenue Agent 1

Department of Social and Health Services Office of Financial Recovery is seeking a Revenue Agent 1 to join the team in Olympia, WA. This role provides journey-level collection activities for Vendor overpayments in the Facilities, Finance, and Analytics Administration. Recovered funds return to the programs to support the mission of DSHS to Transform Lives.

Some of what you’ll do:

  • Provides triage and collection activities for new Vendor overpayments in the Facilities, Finance, and Analytics Administration
  • independently perform routine, less complex collection activities
  • Perform investigation, liens, attachment of assets, payment agreements, and debt
    forgiveness
  • Utilizing professional collection techniques supported by state and federal laws, debt determination regulations, and a detailed understanding of program goals, regulations, and the mission of DSHS
  • Review incoming documents and take appropriate actions for service documents,
    overpayments, court orders, administrative hearing notices, and general
    correspondence
  • Ensure that debts are legally served: the Vendor received notice required by law and
    understands their due process rights
  • Locate clients for service of overpayment notification or collection

What we’re looking for:

  • Knowledge of investigation procedures and practices, collection laws and procedures, legal rights and remedies in civil law, and basic accounting practices
  • Knowledge of investigative skills to identify sources, gather and document facts, evaluate information, and draw conclusions
  • Ability to independently manage workloads and perform quality case management
  • Ability to work from home

Who should apply?

Professionals with a bachelor’s degree involving major study in business administration, accounting, police science, public administration, economics, law, criminal justice, sociology, psychology, or closely related field

OR

Two years of experience as a Tax Service Representative or Excise Tax Assistant

Experience in the collection of civil debt, law enforcement, personal or corporate finance, adjustment of claims or investigations involving background, business practices, or fraud will be substituted, year for year, for education.

Note: This is a hybrid role, and you will need to have the ability to work from home and come into the office located in downtown Olympia.
