Our client is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to join our team supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) High Performance Computing (HPC) Modernization Program (DoD HPCMP) and the U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) DoD Supercomputing Resource Center (DSRC) located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
The position maintains operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network engineers. Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocate mass storage space. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery to existing HPC systems. Develops and monitors policies and standards related to the use of HPC resources. Participates in technical forums; and representing our company in joint meetings with the customer on HPC technical topics.

A successful candidate should be customer service oriented, attentive to detail, self-motivated and work well in teams. Flexibility in approach to finding solutions, the ability to understand and act on the customer needs and priorities and learn new technologies quickly. You will also need to be willing to respond to occasional off-hours outages and take part in subsequent service restoration efforts.

The selected system administrator will work with a team of engineers to review and define configurations, create automation scripts to deploy and configure network assets, review, and deploy software applications, and provide support for testing, demonstration, and technical interchange meetings to include troubleshooting, patching, hardening, and configuration management.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

    • Clearance: Top Secret
    • Education: Bachelor's Degree
    • Experience and familiarity Puppet
    • Unix and ability to create/maintain scripts.

    • Kickstart
    • DoD 8570 IAT II (or better) Certification (i.e. Security+)
    • OS Software Certification (i.e. Linux+)
