Job description
Function: Directly responsible to the School Principal and/or Director of Special Education for providing services that will allow students to take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials. When assigned to a classroom, teacher assistants will be under the supervision of a certified teacher.Duties: 1. Under the supervision of a certified teacher, prepares for classroom activities. 2.Works with small groups of students to reinforce concepts initially introduced by the teacher. 3. Assists individual children in need of special attention. 4.
Performs clerical duties as directed.Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher. 6. Provides assistance, under the direction of the physical and/or occupational therapist, to individual studentsin need of special care; including medical problems, such as toileting, changing dressings, wheelchairs, prosthetic devices and other conditions and situations requiring adult assistance and/or supervision.Sets up audiovisual equipment. 8.
Performs non-instructional classroom duties, such as assistance with lunch, snack, toilet and clothing routines. 9. Assists small groups of students in the library. 10.
Assists with reading and storytelling. 11. Participates in in-service training program. 12.
Assists with the supervision of students during lunch and recess periods, and on field trips. 13. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as isexpected of fully licensed teachers. 14.
Monitors pupils on buses. 15. Works the following schedule: Six (6) hours daily - Monday through Friday, 16. Performs other related duties as may be assigned.Salary listed is for new hires only - Step 1 of the Paraprofessional Collective Bargaining Agreement for 180 work days ($19.93 per hour)Grant Funded: Title I
