OMNY Vein and Cardiovascular is looking for Echo Tech.
Position Overview:
- The Echo Tech uses high frequency sound waves, and other noninvasive echocardiography testing equipment, to examine and produce images of the heart valves, chambers and blood vessels known as transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) and help with treadmill stress tests.
- Obtain patient history, explain procedures to patient, address patients’s concerns, and follow established pre-screening policy and procedure in accordance.
- Determine appropriate methodology and techniques to use; arrange immobilization and/or support device for proper patient positioning; select appropriate imaging device.
- Prepare patient for echocardiography procedures, position patient as appropriate for prescribed procedure, and assist patients at completion of procedure.
- Use good judgment when determining if the procedure was sufficient for proper diagnoses, or if additional imaging procedures are needed.
- Provides images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation.
- Monitors the patient’s physical condition during the course of the procedure; report patient change of status or emergency situations to clinical staff, supervisor and/or cardiologist.
- Recognize abnormal rhythms and immediately notify physician or appropriate clinical staff.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation, including computerized documentation.
- Performs general office duties: maintain stock supplies, assist administrators in determining quantities for purchase, record procedure codes for billing purposes, and scheduling patients.
- Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Troubleshoot equipment and document errors or equipment malfunctions; escalate issues and concerns to engineer, supervisor, and/or cardiologist.
- Complains with Infection Control, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
- Perform related duties, as required.
Requirements:
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) OR Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), preferred.
- Become ARDMS or CCI certified within one year of hire or within one year of your graduation date, required.
- 0-2 years of previous experience - preferred.
- Knowledge of ultrasound equipment, blood pressure monitor, echo database computer, fax machine, required.
- These procedures require specialized knowledge and skills in support of the provision of diagnostic and/or therapeutic services to a specified patient population.
Pay is commensurate on experience, as well as after a scan interview.
OMNY Vein and Cardiovascular is an IAC accredited facility.
