Job description

Do you love books that connect, inform and inspire? We are looking for an enthusiastic and conscientious Editorial Assistant to join the Bluebird and One Boat team to ensure the smooth running of editorial and administrative processes.

This is a busy, and wide-ranging role. A typical day might involve a morning check-in with the other members of the editorial team, followed by writing or checking copy for a book cover or online description. You will be the main port of call for colleagues’ questions about the status of manuscripts or the publishing schedule and responsible for fielding enquiries (internally and externally) for the department.

Later, you might arrange approval for payments due to authors whose books are publishing/recently delivered, or research and contribute ideas – based on your interest in lifestyle non-fiction, sustainability and the environment – on a project the team is looking to pursue. You will be responsible for checking eBooks and making sure all data is correct on central databases in time for departmental deadlines as well as becoming proficient in all systems and processes.

The successful candidate will have:

  • An intuitive, enthusiastic and inclusive approach
  • The ability to organise and manage tight deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • A willingness to learn new skills and software

We’d love it if you had:

  • Experience with Google suite and MS Office applications
  • A strong interest in non-fiction lifestyle books
